Cionne Gourrier led the way for Bowie State, placing 12th with a time of 23:56.69.
Telicia Farmer ran the 5k course in 24:26.93 to finish 14th and Zuwena Johnson finished 15th with a time of 24:38.70.
Other competitors for the Bulldogs include Abigail
Hunt (26:45.06 - 20th), Makayla Peterson (26:45.37 - 17th), Kaylia Brown
(28:29.57 – 22nd) and Krystal Simpson (34:26.53 – 25th).
Catholic University placed first overall with 26
points, host Howard claimed second with 32 points and Bowie State
rounded out the field in third with 74 points
Claflin will return to action next Friday, Sept. 7 at McDaniel College.
Bowie State Men’s Cross Opens 2018 Season at Howard University Labor Day Classic
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Bowie State
University men’s cross-country team opened its 2018 season at the Howard
University Labor Day Classic on Saturday (September 1st) and finished
third overall. Host Howard placed first overall (21
points) followed by the Catholic University of America (39 points) and
Bowie State (81 points).
Freshman Yeabsera Teferra was Bowie State’s top finisher, crossing the finish line in 13th with a time of 19:46.67.
Junior Markese Miller finished 16th overall, completing the course in 19:57.89.
Senior Robert Thomas ran the course in 20:04.85 and placed 18th for the Bulldogs.
Junior Kevin Glasper and sophomore Ikpefua Olumese
rounded out Bowie State’s top five finishers, placing 19th and 20th
respectively with times of 20:06.05 and 20:45.42.
Sophomore Jeramiah Wallace was the next Bowie State
runner to cross the finish line, finishing 24th (21:49.55) followed by
fellow sophomore teammate Rico Singleton in 25th, clocking in at
23:02.70. Sophomore Koby Willis and freshman Larry
Colbert rounded out Bowie State’s competitors, crossing the finish line
with times of 28:42.16 and 29:55.40 respectively.
