CHESAPEAKE, Va. - The Lady Bulldogs bowling team took the lanes for the first time this season, competing in the Hampton Roads Invitational hosted by Norfolk State University. The host Lady Spartans took home the top spot, followed by Virginia State University in second and North Carolina Central University was third. COMPLETE RESULTS ATTACHED
Bowie State faced Hampton University in the 4th/5th place match falling 4-2 to the Lady Pirates. Hampton won by a total pinfall of 996 to 947 to claim 4th place overall.
Sophomore Ambrianna Bankston was the top Bowie State bowler over the three-day event with a 156 average. Freshman Briana Evans was a close second, averaging 156. Fellow sophomore Shayla Lightfoot rolled a BSU high-game of 221 and wrapped up the week with a 147 average. Freshmen Keyandra Bankston and Tanisha Younger did well in the first collegiate event, averaging 146 and 133 respectively.
As a team, Bowie State recorded a weekend record of 2-8 and will return to the lanes November 9-11, hosting the CIAA North/South Event I at the AMF Laurel Lanes.
