A sign in the men's basketball locker room
at Xavier University reads, "The only good pass......is caught." As a
coach who's always valued the teaching of fundamentals in order to limit
turnovers, I've never forgotten that sign. If you want to have a great
post presence in your offense, you'll need to teach your team the best
methods to pass that ball inside. Feeding the post doesn't need to be
difficult. During my time at Valparaiso University our team had
tremendous success with our post game. Now, in Feeding the Post, I'm
showing the passing techniques and teaching progression I've used for
years; the same techniques that led to our team being ranked 11th
nationally in fewest turnovers per game! Replete with teaching points
on screen and college game clips to show examples and non-examples, this
film is sure to give you a number of drills and techniques to
effectively teach your team to pass the ball inside for those
high-percentage scoring opportunities you want...and need! Book this course....

Sometimes, you’d rather just stay in bed!
Unfortunately, for most of us, that is simply not an option. Getting
yourself up and going each day can be a real struggle — even if you are a
morning person. But, don’t condemn yourself to a lifetime of morning
fogginess! With a few simple tweaks, you can elevate your mood and be
better prepared to take on the day! Making yourself feel like a morning person is easier than you might
think. Whether you’re in love with sleep or just got up on the wrong
side of the bed, eating the right things in the morning can completely
transform your day. That’s right, a better mood is just a breakfast
away! To get your day started on the right foot, add these foods to your breakfast routine:
1. Smoked Salmon
Salmon is an oily fish which makes it an excellent source of omega 3
fatty acids. Various studies have found that omega 3s help reduce
anxiety and depression. Lowering anxiety levels can also dampen the
effects of the stress hormone cortisol, helping you feel more at ease
and potentially reducing the amount of fat you carry around your
belly! If you find yourself pressed for time in the mornings, try
whipping up this quick and delicious Smoked Salmon with Avocado Spread.
2. Eggs
It shouldn’t surprise you to see eggs on this list! Eggs pack a
pretty powerful nutritional punch. Eggs are not only an excellent source
of protein, they are loaded with important vitamins and minerals your
body needs to function at its best. These include vitamins B2, B6, B12,
and D, calcium, copper, zinc and selenium! Because of their high protein
content, eggs will fill you up and keep you feeling satisfied until
lunchtime! This will allow you to stay focused on the tasks at hand
without the annoying distraction of a rumbling stomach! To add a little
excitement to your eggs, why not double down on the mood boosters by
whipping up this Smoked Salmon Avocado Egg Wrap?
3. Oats
Oats are full of fiber. Fiber can promote gut health while adding
bulk to your diet and stabilizing blood sugar. This means you won’t have
that dreaded mid-morning energy slump that leaves you feeling like you
want to crawl under your desk for a nap or grab that danish from the
break room! How you eat these oats is up to you. You can whip up a nice
bowl of oatmeal or add some to your smoothies! The choice is yours!
4. Beans & Pulses
Like oats, beans and pulses are full of fiber. When your digestion
isn’t working properly, it can leave you feeling sluggish, lethargic,
and generally cruddy. None of this is conducive to being in a good mood.
Adding chickpeas, black beans, or lentils to your morning can help keep
your system moving and put a little pep in your step. Why not combine
oats and lentils onto one dish? Try this Loaded Oatmeal Lentil bowl!
5. Dried Fruit
Low iron levels are common for women. This can make you feel tired
and depressed. One way to boost iron levels is through dried fruit. You
want to keep your serving sizes in control because they can be high in
sugar but adding some raisins or apricots to a bowl of yogurt or a
smoothie can help. Better yet, add apricots AND spinach to your smoothie
for an extra dose of iron!
6. Melons
Dehydration has a profoundly negative effect on the body. This can
include a feeling of haziness and an inability to focus! Melon, because
of its high water content, is a great way to supplement your daily water
intake. Try adding some to a smoothie or cut it into chunks for a
bright and tasty breakfast.
7. Orange Juice
Vitamin C keeps your immune system healthy and also helps your body
to absorb iron from plant based foods. Fighting off energy zapping bugs
and optimizing iron absorption is a sure way to wake up feeling fresh
and energized.
8. Yogurt
As we’ve said before, slow digestion can make you feel drained and
tired. Whole fat, natural yogurt is full of active bacteria cultures
that go a long way to promoting healthy bacteria in your gut. Many
recent studies have suggested that an unhappy gut can contribute to bad
moods and depression. So, help the good bacteria along by having a bowl
of yogurt or adding a few dollops to your morning smoothie. Just avoid
flavored or sweetened yogurts as the extra sugars will be
counterproductive.
9. Raw Cacao
Chocolate lovers, it’s time to rejoice! Raw cacao is a pure from of
cocoa that is both high in fiber and magnesium. Magnesium plays a big
role in many of your body’s functions including the conversion of food
into energy. Raw cacao also contains the mood enhancer phenethylamine
(or PEA) so throw a tablespoon in your smoothie or oatmeal for a
delicious, elevating start to your day. For more simple, healthy, and creative ways to use these foods, check out the BodyRock Meal Plan! What do you eat in the morning to get your day started? Share your tips with us!

There is so much information out there about what a Multi-Vitamin should
contain, there’s all different types and being New Zealander’s we need a
Multi-Vitamin that is going to suit our specific needs. This means that
it is very important that we choose carefully when we are looking at
taking a Multi-Vitamin supplement and believe me, there are so many out
there! When I was looking through my shop to review the different types
today I found that I had 18 different Multi-Vitamins. It’s no wonder
that people get so confused and don’t know which one to choose. So what is a Multivitamin? Generally a Multi-Vitamin is a B Complex that also contains trace
elements such as Zinc and Selenium, hopefully the trace elements that
are missing in our soils because particularly in New Zealand we have
some very specific ones these are Zinc, Selenium and Boron. So we would
hope for here in New Zealand that any Multi-Vitamin would contain those
key nutrients or elements. A lot of people when they come in asking
for a Multi-Vitamin they ask me "Has it got a lot of Calcium and
Magnesium in it?" Ill tell you now that there is no way that a good
multi-Vitamin supplement is going to give you enough calcium and
magnesium. As I said above a Multi-Vitamin is basically a B complex with
trace elements in it so if you need Calcium and Magnesium which most of
us do then you need to choose an individual supplement that will
provide you with the proper amounts of those. Now lets have a
look at some of the Multi-Vitamins that we stock here at healthyonline.
We will start with our absolute best and work our way down. So
my absolute Roles Royce Multivitamin is the "Mutli 100". I love this
Mutli-Vitamin and I recommend it to all the people that want an impact
type Mutli because I really only want to take one supplement. I
recommend this particularly to all my hard working stressed out business
guys particularly who really aren’t into taking supplements or say have
not taken a supplement before and are feeling really stressed or
hammered and are not able to really handle it throughout the day and
need an impact type Multi and that is what the Multi 100 is. It
comes from America and are produced by a really good brand "Country
Life", this product is different to any Multi-Vitamin that I have but
the reason I like this is because it is a "time release" Multi-Vitamin.
So what that means is the B vitamins are released more slowly throughout
the day and we have to remember that Multi- Vitamins are water soluble
so we don’t store them in our body so when we take a supplement that has
B Vitamins our body grabs onto those B Vitamins and we pretty much
Urinate out the rest of them, But with this one because it’s time
release it’s released more slowly throughout the whole day. How they do
that is they get the nutrients and put a layer of cellulose coating
around a certain amount of nutrients, then another layer and another
layer of Cellulose coating so your bodies just breaking down a small
amount of those nutrients at once. So in this Multi-Vitamin we have
100mgs of each of your main B Vitamins. Now if you read our earlier
article on Centrum you’ll remember that Centrum in one tablet contains
only about 1.7mgs of B Vitamins, this has 100 so it’s pretty different.
This is my favourite but not something that you would want to take at
night time because you would not sleep.
This is our main
Multi-Vitamin and my own formulation the "Multi-Vite" obviously I really
like this but still the "Country Life Multi-100" is the superior
product. When I formulated the Multi-Vite I took into consideration
the soil depletion here in New Zealand. With our low levels of Zinc,
Selenium and Boron I made sure I added as much of these as Med Safe
would legally allow me to. In this Multi-Vite I have 25mgs of the
major Multi-Vitamins compared to the 100 in the "Multi-100", We have 50
Micro-grams of Selenium and 10mgs of Zinc. So this is a good supplement
for both men and women and it is important also to remember that if you
are a women, No Multi-Vitamin is really going to give you enough Iron.
Iron levels need to be independently evaluated, so if you have low Iron
you will not get it from taking a Multi-Vitamin just like the Calcium
and Magnesium supplement you need to take a separate supplement if you
are low in Iron. That is the reason that we don’t generally put Iron
into Multi-Vitamins, so that both Men and Women can take it because a
lot of men have high Iron and for that reason I would never recommend a
man take an Iron supplement unless they had had a test that specifically
showed that they had low Iron, this is the same for Women as well but
particularly in a Man. This supplement should be taken just once a day
for the best results. Then there are two more Mutli-Vitamins
that I have both of which are New Zealand products. These come in
capsules. Again I like them being from a New Zealand because you would
expect that they wil have taken into consideration our soil depletion
here in New Zealand. These products here are fairly similar with there B
Vitamins both containing around 25-50mgs of B Vitamins so these are
going to be pretty impact type products for all those energy producing
nutrients.
My next Multi-Vitamin is very specialised with the
name "The Daily One". We sell quite a lot of this and I recommend this
supplement to quite a few people. The Multi-Vitamin is very different to
a lot of Multi-Vitamins that I stock mainly because it contains 200
Micro-Grams of selenium. We all hear about selenium and how important it
is for our immune system, thyroid health and Prostate health here in
New Zealand. 200 Micro-grams is a huge whack and really is enough to
produce any type of therapeutic action in your body. Another good
thing about this Multi is that it has a lot of Chromium in it whereas
many of the other Multi-Vitamins really have a lot of Chromium. In one
of these capsules it has 200 Micro-Grams of Chromium which is really
great for helping with carbohydrate metabolism and sugar cravings, so if
your one of those people that really crave for sugar the "Daily One"
may be the Multi-Vitamin that will be the better choice for you. This
supplement has a good amount of B Vitamins that vary from 25mgs to about
50mgs for some of them so again with this supplement you are going to
get a good whack of B Vitamins. Now just quickly I really need
to mention this. A lot of people ask me about "Berocca" telling me that
they take Berocca and do not need to take a Multi for that reason. I
want to make this clear to you now that Berocca is not a Multi-Vitamin
Berocca is a "B Vitamin" and we do not recommend Berocca. The reason why
we do not recommend Berocca at all is that it contains Aspartame and we
don’t recommend anything that contains Aspartame. It is really
important to be aware when you are looking at a Multivitamin that you
need to read the label properly. Don’t just read the information on the
front of it that is just telling you a statement, have a look at the
actual ingredients on the back so you know what it is really that you
are getting. What I find is that a lot of information is very misleading
or even deceptive. In this next Multi-Vitamin the "V-2000" This
supplement is very popular from Solgar and it is a good Vitamin. It’s
very important to be aware that when you are reading the nutrients that
are being provided to you as it specifically states on the label that
these nutrients are what are contained in taking 2 of these tablets, not
one but two. So to get the 10 or 20mgs of B Vitamins contained in the
V-2000 you must take two tablets. It is the same as the next product
that I stock. This product called Vitalize 1-MV I really do like
and it is a very good B-Vitamin that is made here in New Zealand but the
ingredients are based on "eight captules" not one but "Eight" so again
it is very important to read the label and read the dosage instructions
so you know how many the company are actually telling you to take. Finally I want to take a look at Usana not because I stock the product
but because a customer specifically asked me to do a comparison between
the USANA nutrients and the other nutrients that we have. I will be
writing in a later article specifically on USANAs products and I do have
some information that can be viewed specifically about it here. Again
the most important thing to realise with a supplement like this is that
the amount of nutrients are not based on taking just one tablet they are
based on taking 3 of the "Mega Antioxidant" and 3 of the "MultiMineral"
so 6 in total to provide you with the amount of nutrients that are
listed on the label. Just so you know in taking one of these tablets
you get 7mgs of Zinc and only 8 micro-grams of selenium. Early you will
have read that with the ‘Daily One’ we were getting 200 micro-grams of
Selenium. With the Multi-Vite we were getting 50 Micro-grams of Selenium
so compare these with just 8 Micro-grams in the USANA Essentials. If you have specific needs say like you are pregnant or you have
cardio-vascular problems there are specific Multi-Vitamin supplements
out there for you. I will be writing soon specifically about the
pregnancy Multi’s that are available because this is so important. You
want to know that you are feeding your feeding your baby properly as
well as getting enough nutrients so you can actually function properly
yourself.

PORCH Pirates are real and they are after your property! You don’t have to be a victim!
By: George Babnick
Porch Pirates, Porch Maggots, or just opportunist thieves – whatever you
want to call them, package thieves are prowling neighborhoods looking
for packages to steal. This comes as no surprise as news reports abound
showing package thieves caught on surveillance video stealing packages
off of residential porches. Thieves might feel they stand a chance of
getting better loot in affluent neighborhoods but it happens in
middle-class neighborhoods and even in so-called lower-class
neighborhoods. No neighborhood is immune from this thievery. Often these
thieves come out of their holes during prime shipping holidays like
Christmas but many operate all year long. These porch maggots are real
and they are coming for your property! A recent survey revealed that
more than 20 percent of online shoppers have experienced a package
stolen from their porch with the average loss being well over $100.00.
The Modus Operandi of package thieves is often very similar and
surprisingly quite basic. This is not a sophisticated criminal endeavor.
These are common opportunist thieves and like all common thieves, they
are lazy. If a "target" is difficult or to risky, they will move on to
an easier "target."
Often porch pirates work in tandem and it is
not uncommon for one thief to be a woman. These crooks cruise around
and look for delivery vehicles like UPS or FedEx trucks, and then follow
and wait for the delivery person to place a package on the front porch.
To their credit, some delivery companies like UPS, often make a special
effort to place packages on a back porch to make it less obviously
visible to thieves, but if the thieves are tailing the delivery truck,
they can usually see this.
Usually the thieves make several
"drive-bys" past the home to scope things out. If no one comes to the
door to get the package the thieves usually park on the street near the
house. Some of the more brazen thieves will even pull into the driveway
just as if they belonged there. One thief stays behind the driver’s
wheel to make a quick get-a-way if necessary while the other
nonchalantly walks up to the porch. Sometimes the thief will ring the
doorbell just to make sure no one is home. If someone answers they have a
cover story about having the wrong address, looking for a lost dog, or
some other half-way plausible excuse. But often the thief just casually
picks up the packages and walks to the waiting get-a-way car . . . and
off they go.
Where is porch piracy most prevalent? The answers are surprising
Blink, a seller of surveillance cameras owned by Amazon, conducted a
survey and "The survey revealed that, on a per-capita basis, rural areas
had a higher rate of packages stolen per the population, and the states
with the highest rate of package theft were North Dakota (26.2 times
more likely), Vermont (16.43 times more likely), Arkansas (8.28 times
more likely) and New Mexico (5.8 times more likely). North Dakota
residents have a higher likelihood of falling victim to package theft
than Californians!"
Of course, sellers of surveillance cameras
want you to buy one of their cameras to "deter" these thefts but
research shows that while surveillance cameras that simply record what
happens are great for helping catch thieves after they have already
stolen your stuff, they do little to prevent these thefts. I first wrote
about this in an article entitled: What Good Are Security Surveillance
Cameras. Smart surveillance cameras that alert you when someone rings
your doorbell or steps onto your porch and that allow you to remotely
speak to the trespasser "GO AWAY, I’M CALLING THE POLICE!" can be
effective.
Tips from security "experts" on preventing porch
package theft are common and they are all good, but most are not widely
practiced. They usually include:
∙ Having packages delivered to
friends, neighbors, or relatives who will be home during daytime
delivery hours. Who wants to inconvenience others?
∙ Having
packages delivered to you at your work site. Not everyone has an
employer who will allow this or a work place where this is feasible. A
survey showed that 92% of all online purchases are shipped to a person’s
home.
∙ Having your packages delivered to Amazon Lockers or a
private mail receiving store. An added inconvenience and maybe you
didn’t order from Amazon. And there is a cost for a private mail
receiving store.
Practical way to Secure Packages
Of all
the prevention options available, one of the most practical, relatively
inexpensive, and effective is a large lock-box on your front porch
securely anchored to the porch. A little sign can instruct the delivery
driver to place your packages in the box and then close the lid. There
are inexpensive automatic locks that will lock once the lock-box lid is
shut. If you are handy with a little research you can build one of
these boxes and make it look quite attractive. For those who are all
thumbs and don’t know the difference between a screwdriver and a hammer,
these package delivery lock-boxes can be purchased online from various
vendors.
There is no sure-fire way to prevent all porch package
thefts but knowing the way these thieves operate and keeping a vigilant
eye out in your neighborhood, coupled with having a secure place for the
delivery person to leave your packages, is the best prevention.

When [the devil] speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:44
Some
people find it difficult to believe God’s promises because they’ve seen
so many things in the natural world that seem to contradict them.
They’ve seen faithful tithers go broke. They’ve seen sick Christians
fail to receive their healing. In reality, it would be more accurate to say that they think they’ve
seen those things. Because, you see, there’s a deceiver at work in the
world. A deceiver who’s busily doing the same thing he’s been doing ever
since the Garden of Eden: tricking mankind into believing God’s Word
isn’t true. And, after working on it for thousands of years, he’s a
master at it. Think about that the next time he tries to make things
look as though God’s Word is not going to work for you, when he makes it
look like all hope is lost. Say, “I don’t care about appearances. I
believe the Word and I refuse to doubt it.” Let me show you what I
mean. Have you ever seen a magic show where someone crawls inside a box
and then is sawn in half? You can see it with your own two eyes. The
guy’s feet are sticking out one end of the box and his head is poking
out the other, and the box is plainly cut in two. Then the magician
slides the two halves back together and the sawed-apart fellow jumps out
of the box in one piece. Now tell me, did you really believe,
even for a moment, that fellow was truly cut in half? Of course not! You
knew that you’d seen a trick, a deception, something that appeared one
way when, in reality, it was a different way altogether. You may not
have known how it was done. You may not have been able to explain it.
But you knew a person couldn’t be sawn in half, then put back together,
so you refused to believe your eyes. That’s exactly the way you
need to be where the Word of God is concerned. You need to learn to
trust it and rely on it to such an extent that when Satan shows you
something in the natural world that appears to contradict it, you just
say, “Well, I saw that, but I’m not going to be gullible enough to
believe it. I’m just going to stick with the Word.” If you’ll do that, the father of lies will never be able to put one over on you.
Howard Lacrosse Falls in Season Finale Against Kennesaw State Owls pull away with second half surge
WASHINGTON (April 28, 2019) –
Howard
University women’s lacrosse hung tough, but the Kennesaw State (KSU)
Owls propelled with a second half surge, 25-3, inside Greene Stadium.
KSU
scored the first two goals, but second-year midfielder Jillian Jones
(Fresno, Calif.) got HU on the board with a free shot, 2-1.
Kennesaw
State extended its advantage, 7-1, but a pair of goals from Jones and
senior Latroya Pina (Seeknok, Mass.) sliced the margin to four, 7-3.
From that point, the Owls scored six unanswered before intermission to increase its lead to double-digits, 13-3.
After halftime, KSU kept the pressure on with 12 more goals while shutting out the Bison, 25-3.
HU (0-14, 0-6 ASUN) won six draw controls, led by Jones with four. Sophomore Marquia Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) added two DCs.
Defensively, freshman Andrea Fievre (Snellville, Ga.) recorded eight saves and seven ground balls.

Howard Women’s Relay Squad Takes Third in Penn Relays Final Day Women’s 4x400 team’s performance best in nearly 25 years
PHILADELPHIA (April 27, 2019) –
Howard University men’s & women’s relay squads competed in the final day of the 125th annual Penn Relays in front of 48,195 spectators inside Franklin Field where Saturday’s lineup featured several
events between the USA vs. the World.
Among
Saturday’s star-studded slate was HU’s 4x400 relay team of juniors
Sydney Benson (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) and Oluchi Ike (Upper
Marlboro, Md.) and sophomores Jessika Gbai (Philadelphia)
and Ozioma Scott (Georgetown, Guyana) taking third in the College
Women’s College Finals, clocking in at a season-best 3:38.53.
"What an
amazing performance for our women's 4x4 relay [team] in today's
finals,” said Director of Track & Field David Oliver. “Running
3:38.53 is a performance that Howard hasn't seen in nearly
25 years. Also, they have found themselves currently amongst the top 35
teams in the entire country. [This] is impressive. We couldn't ask for
more as coaches.”
The
women’s relay squads are peaking at the right moment with the 2019
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Championships just around
the corner.
“[We’re]
leaving out of [the] Penn Relays with three of our women's teams
finishing in the top three in their respective finals,” Director Oliver
continued. “They truly rose to the occasion. Hopefully,
all goes well next weekend at MEACs, and we can see an even better
performance."
Another
notable team in action was the men’s 4x800 squad consisting of senior
Tariq Fullerton (Kingston, Jamaica), sophomore Anthony Gordon (Clinton,
Md.) and freshmen Aariq Nixon (Baltimore) and
Gavin Williams (Dover, Del.) where they placed 15th overall, registering a 7:52.74 mark.

In the
three-day event, 110,661 fans came to Franklin Field where Howard
thrived under the big stage. For many current Bison, this was only the
beginning with several returning next year.
“All of
[this year’s] contributors will be back next year,” Director Oliver
stated. “We hope to bring home one of those elusive Penn Relays wheels.”
Additionally, Director Oliver thanked the alumni for their endless support throughout the weekend.
“It was
great to catch up with a lot of our track alumni that came to support,”
Director Oliver concluded. “Their support is invaluable to us, [and]
we’re all standing on their shoulders. This
was a really great weekend we had, [and] important going into the
conference championships next week.”
On May
2-4, Director Oliver and the Bison travel to Greensboro, N.C. for the
2019 MEAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by North Carolina A and T State.
