Fanatics Presents Bowie State Men's and Women's Track and Field Results Fred Hardy Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. – The Bowie State University men’s track and field team competed in the Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond on March 29-30.
In the 1500-meter run, senior Markese Miller placed 12th in 4:37.53, while sophomore Juantre Rush finished 13th with the time of 53.01.

Senior Robert Thomas placed fifth in 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.98 and sophomore Kobi Willis managed 11th in 1:08.12.
Freshman Davon Carroll placed first in Non-Division I 100-meter dash, breaking the tape at 10.72, while sophomores Stedman Cook and Xavier Williams finished fourth and 23rd respectively with times of 10.95 and 11.66.
Carroll also came home with a first place finish in 200-meter dash (Non-Division I) with a time of 21.65 and Cook managed third in 22.14. Freshman Larry Colbert III (52.25) and senior O’shai Powers (53.33) finished 18th and 19th, respectively in the same event.


Thomas took home 12th place in the 800-meter in Non Division I at 1:59.31, while freshman Benvindo Chicha secured 10th in 110-meter in Non Division I with a time of 17.75. Thomas competed in the 400-meter hurdles and placed eighth overall with a time of 56.98.
Bowie State (Sykes, Thomas, Snowden and Colbert) placed second in 4x400-meter relay at 3:21.49. Freshman Benvindo Chicha finished 17th in long jump at 5.43m, while fellow freshman Isaiah Coe placed 19th at 5.32m.
Bowie State men’s track and field returns to competition on Saturday (April 6) at Towson University.

Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Completes Fred Hardy Invitational
RICHMOND, Va. – The Bowie State University women’s track & field team completed Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond on March 29-30.
In events full of Division I competitors, BSU competed at a high level and came away with good results. Sophomore Cionne Gourrier placed 19th in 1500-meter run with the time of 5:05.05, while fellow sophomore Telicia Farmer managed 24th in 5:36.69.
In the 400-meter hurdles event, sophomore Kaylia Brown placed 13th in 1:08.57, while freshman Niamani Mayes secured 16th in 1:13.37. Junior De’Sha Manago placed sixth in shot put with the final throw of 10.82m, while Jordan McDonald finished in eighth with 10.48m.
Sophomore Soljala Jones was tied for fifth in high jump with the score of 1.55m.
In day two of the Fred Hardy Invitational, sophomore Amaree’ Yates placed sixth in Non-Division I 100-meter dash in 12.69. The second-year runner finished in the same spot for 200-meter dash in Non-Division I with the time of 26.14. Sophomore Abigail Hunt finished just outside of top 10 in 26.31.
Hunt placed sixth 400-meter dash in Non-Division I with a time of 59.12, while fellow sophomore Makayla Peterson finished 13th in 1:03.00. Both Kaylia Brown (1:04.10) and Kayla Tucker (1:04.58) finished 19th and 20th, respectively.
BSU (Brown, Hunt Lorinda and Yates) placed seventh in 4x400-meter Relay in Non-Division I, crossing the finish line with a time of 4:08.77. In the Division I shot put, Manago placed 11th with a heave of 10.82m, while McDonald secured 14th at 10.48m. McDonald (30.13) also placed 14th in discus throw.
In the high jump, Jones placed fifth overall with the final score of 1.55m. Jones also finished fourth in long jump, scoring 5.21m, while Mayes placed in top 10, finishing with the final score 4.78m. Gourrier placed seventh in 3000-meter run with the time of 11:24.52 and Farmer finished 10th in 12:57.56.
Bowie State will be back in action on Saturday April 6 at Towson University.
