Bowie State U Men's and Women's Track and Field Update Presented by StrengthCoach!

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Bowie State University men’s track and field participated in the 15th annual Morgan Legacy Meet on April 19-20 at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State University.

Host Morgan State placed first with a score of 120 points, followed by Coppin State in second (94 points), Maryland Eastern Shore was third (87.5 points), Virginia State placed fourth (70.5 points) and Delaware State finished fifth with a score of 65 points. Bowie State’s men placed 9th overall (21 points) out of 16 teams.
Sophomores Stedman Cook (11.07) and Xavier Williams (11.56) placed 12th and 34th in 100-meter dash during the preliminary round and remained in the same positions with 10.81 and 11.56 times in finals.
Freshman Benvindo Chicha finished 16th in 110 hurdles at 17.28, while sophomore Frank Bailey placed 17th with 20.28. Robert Thomas and O’shai Powers participated in the 200-meter dash and recorded 22.37 and 23.19.
In four 400-meter dash, Thomas (49.33) and Jalen Sykes (50.92) placed 11th and 19th, while Larry Colbert III and Yeabsera Teferra recorded 52.97 and 53.84 times.
Thomas finished in top five in 400 hurdles at 56.70, while Koby Willis placed 13th with 1:06.02. Senior Markese Miller placed 18th in the 800 with the time of 2:06.64.
In 1500, Miller (4:35.71) and Juantre Rush (4:39.04) placed 19th and 22nd, while freshman Isaiah Coe managed 13th in long jump with 5.56m score. Coe also scored 13.05m for sixth place in triple jump.
In 4x100-meter relay, Bowie State clocked in at 41.95 for fourth place. The Bulldogs were contention in the 4x400-meter relay and placed fourth at 3:20.24 and 10th with 3:37.53.
Up next for BSU is the Penn Relays on Wednesday April 24 until Saturday April 27 in Philadelphia, Pa.

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Bowie State University women’s track and field participated in the 15th annual Morgan State University Legacy Meet on April 19-20 at Hughes Stadium and placed 16th overall (4 points) out of 18 participating teams.
Morgan State’s women claimed the top spot (143 points) followed by Towson (125 points), Delaware State (107), Howard (88 points) and Coppin State rounded out the top five (52 points).
In 100-meter dash, Bowie State’s Amaree’ Yates placed 12th with 12.76 time in the preliminary round and improved to 10th in the finals with a time of 12.31. Freshman Blessing Ekpo also participated and crossed the finish line at 13.88 in the finals.
Kayla Tucker, Makayla Peterson, Aures Cunningham and Blessing Ekpo were all participants in 200-meter dash and were timed at 27.14, 28.23, 28.97 and 29.29, respectively.
In 400-meter dash, sophomores Abigail Hunt and Kaylia Brown placed 29th and 30th at 1:00.52 and 1:00.63. Freshman Niamani Mayes finished 14th in 400-meter hurdles with 1:09.33, while Brown managed 19th at 1:24.10.
Sophomores Cionne Gourrier (5:09.92) and Telicia Farmer (5:35.23) placed 23rd and 31st in the 1500-meter. Gourrier also participated in the 800-meter and was time at 2:30.34.
Junior De’sha Manago placed 8th in discus throw with 39.70m score, while sophomore Soljala Jones recorded 5.01m score for 10th place.
Freshman Lorinda Bangura (11.14m) and Manago (10.14m) placed 9th and 12th in shot put, while Jones finished 12th in triple jump with 10.60m. In 4x400-meter relay, Bowie State recorded 3:59.82 for seventh place.
The Bulldog women will take part in the Penn Relays (April 24-27 in Philadelphia, Pa.
