Netrition Presents This Howard University Update: Howard Men’s Hoops Wraps Up Home Slate with Aggies and Eagles

WASHINGTON  – Howard University men’s basketball team returns to The District where a pair of Tar Heel foes await. Saturday (Feb. 16), HU hosts North Carolina A&T State (NCAT) on Alumni Day. Tip-off at 4 p.m. Two nights later (Feb. 18), the Bison welcome North Carolina Central for Senior Night. Game-time is set for 7:30 p.m.

LAST TIMEOUT

The Howard University men's basketball team took care of business on their trip to Florida.
Saturday (Feb. 9), the Bison defeated Florida A&M, 70-66. Sophomore RJ Cole (Union, N.J.) had a game-high 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting from downtown while racking up seven dimes and four boards in the win.
Two nights later (Feb. 11), the Bison took down Bethune-Cookman, 79-73. Cole led all scorers with a season-high 32 points, including 20 in the first half.

MATCHUP PREVIEWS

HOWARD

HU (12-13, 6-4 MEAC) enters the weekend fourth in the conference standings after wins over Florida A&M (FAMU) and Bethune-Cookman (B-CU). Howard tops the league in scoring, averaging just under 79 points per game.


Cole, junior Charles Williams (Richmond, Va.) and redshirt junior Chad Lott (Shreveport, La.) spearhead the Bison attack, combining for nearly 55 points per contest.

Defensively, Howard ranks among the conference leaders in blocks, registering 4.3 rejections since league play, which is second behind Florida A&M in that span.

NORTH CAROLINA A&T STATE

After starting conference play 6-0, the Aggies (13-11, 7-2 MEAC) have dropped two-out-of-three with both losses coming against FAMU and B-CU.

Offensively, NCAT ranks first in field goal percentage (.466). Kameron Langley is the Aggies’ floor general, dishing out a league-best 6.4 assists per game.

NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL

NCCU (12-13, 7-4 MEAC) sits third in the conference standings behind Norfolk State and NCAT. Coach LeVelle Moton and his squad brings the league’s top scoring defense, allowing only 66 points per contest.

Raasean Davis anchors the middle, averaging 15.2 points and 9.2 rebounds while junior Randy Miller, Jr. is second on the squad in scoring (12.5 ppg).

PROMOTIONS

Saturday is Alumni Day where the men’s basketball program will welcome back several Bison before clashing with the Aggies.

Monday night is Senior Night where three Bison (Justin Cotten; Jalen Jones and Cameron Lewis) will be recognized for their hard work and dedication to the program.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Howard begins a four-game road swing in Baltimore where they face conference foes Coppin State (Feb. 23) and Morgan State (Feb. 25).
