CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Bowie State University placed four players in double figures as they cruised to a 77-55 victory over  Fayetteville State University in the quarterfinal round of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament Wednesday afternoon at Bojangles Coliseum.
The third seeded Bulldogs and the sixth seed Broncos were meeting in the tournament for the eighth time and for the 51st time overall.  Today’s win evens the tournament series at 4-4 and Bowie State now leads the all-time series 26-25.
The Bulldogs improve to 17-12 overall and advance to the tournament semi -finals where they will face   Livingstone College, the top seed from the South Division, on Thursday at the Spectrum Center.  Tipoff is at 9:00 p.m.   The Broncos conclude their season with a 6-20 record.
Junior Cameron Hayes led all scorers, coming off the bench to score 16 points.  Sophomore Keith Duffin Jr. added 14 points while redshirt junior David Belle chipped in 13.  Junior Rinardo Perry rounded out the Bulldog double figure scorers with 10 points.  Junior Saiquan Jamison led all players with 14 rebounds.
JaQuel Richmond and Denzell Hosch led the Broncos with 13 and 10 points respectively. Raymon Pratt pulled down seven rebounds.
Bowie State opened the game with a 19-9 run connecting on six of their first 11 shots including three three-point field goals without a miss.  David Belle opened the scoring with a three-ball from the left side and Cameron Hayes capped the run with his three-pointer at the 13:06 mark.  The Broncos defense then cooled off the Bulldog offense, limiting Bowie State to just one field goal over the next 6:42 as they closed the gap to three 24-21 with a 12-5 run.  Four different FSU players put points on the scoreboard over the course of their run.  Bowie State countered with a 17-5 run over the final 6:22 of the half to take a 41-26 lead into the locker room at halftime. Duffin and Hayes contributed five points apiece during the Bowie State run.
The Broncos chipped away at the Bowie State lead in the early part of the second half, closing the deficit to 12 points, 53-41 with Richmond providing a spark with six points in the first six minutes of the period.  The Bulldogs then began to pull away with a 12-4 uprising to lead 65-45 with 6:56 remaining.  Bowie State increased the lead to a game-high 28 points in the final three minutes before settling in for the 22-point win.
Bowie State finished the afternoon shooting 44 percent from the field, making 26-of-59 field goals compared to 31 percent (29-of-62) for Fayetteville State. The Bulldogs dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Broncos 48-37 and held advantages in points in the paint (32-20), points off turnovers (15-5) and bench points (29-28).

Beast Sports Nutrition- 5 SNACKS TO KEEP A LEAN BODY

by Mike Wines

5 Snacks To Keep A Lean Body
HEALTHY SNACKS TO KEEP YOU LEAN
Portability, convenience, and taste: that sums up the perfect snacks. How do you combine all 3 and keep your physique while also having a life and taking a vacation? This is the piece for those who aren’t consumed by fitness. It may be your lifestyle but you understand how to have fun and live a balanced life while enjoying it.
1. OVERNIGHT OATS
Overnight oats are essentially the fitness equivalent of granola bars. While they’re not new per se, they’re becoming more and more popular within the health fitness sector given their nutritive value along with the easy and preparation and portability. Here’s what you’ll need: 1/2 Cup oats 1 Scoop chocolate Beast Protein 2 Tbsp chia/hemp seeds 1/2 Cup Greek yogurt (I use less protein when I add GY) 2 Tbsp of cocoa 1-2 Servings of frozen/fresh fruit Liberal amounts of cinnamon Pinch of salt Toss all the ingredients into a Tupperware container and mix thoroughly - add water until you reach your desired consistency. Toss the container in the fridge overnight and the oats will slowly absorb the water and soften. PRO TIP: If you like your oats a little runny, you can opt for more water and no Greek yogurt. However, I prefer them a little thicker so I typically use less water and more Greek yogurt. In the morning, you’ll have a convenient breakfast option or even a midday snack. Easy to prepare and easy to transport - best of both worlds!
2. SMOOTHIES
When I work with clients face-to-face or online, one of the first quick breakfast or snack options I typically recommend is a smoothie, NOT a protein shake. Why? Well, I’m finding that more and more within the fitness industry we have this silent epidemic of gut dysfunction and protein shakes can certainly contribute to preexisting issues. Smoothies are great alternative as they usually contain a few ingredients, which necessitate chewing. This is the crucial piece of the puzzle that’s missing with protein shakes - gulp and swallow as opposed to bite and chew. If you’re not too familiar with the gastrointestinal system, digestion essentially begins in the mouth when you start chewing via something known as salivary amylase. As you chew, this sends a signal from your brain to your stomach to begin secreting hydrochloric acid, digestive enzymes, and bile to assist in the digestion of your meal. However, many people are bypassing the first step in the digestion process when they default to protein shakes with only liquid. You can reduce the chance of corresponding GI distress with protein shakes by simply switching to smoothies, which include a chewable element (nuts, shredded coconut, frozen fruit, etc). Here’s one of my favorite recipes: 1 Frozen Banana A Cup Chocolate Almond Milk 1 Scoop Beast Protein 2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder 2 Tbsp Hemp or Chia Seeds 1 Cup Frozen Spinach 2 Tbsp Almond Butter Toss it all in a blender and pulse to your desired consistency. Don’t forget to chew a bit though!
3. BEEF JERKY
I have yet to meet a male who didn’t like beef jerky. But females on the other hand - you all are a tough crowd sometimes. But, nonetheless, there is an easy solution to this problem: simply make your own and flavor it the way you like. I used to have a coworker who would wait until sirloin went on sale at the grocery store and then she would clean house and buy up most of what they had to freeze for later. She had her own dehydrator and would often bring new flavor options and jerky recipes she was working on. Hey, I certainly wasn’t complaining because homemade beef jerky is 1,000 times better than what you get in the store. Best of all, you get to control what it tastes like. Not only that, dehydrators don’t require you to sit over a stove for hours on end. Toss your meat in a marinade for a couple hours (or simply season to taste) and then throw in the dehydrator for a few more hours. Way cheaper, much tastier, and individualized exactly to your taste buds.
4. NO BAKE PROTEIN BALLS
Sometimes protein powder is a pain. It sticks to your fingers, get everywhere, and ends up clumpy when you mix it. Enter the protein ball. These are portable, easy to make and cost effective. Here’s what you’ll need: 2 Scoops Beast Protein 3/4 Cup cashews 1/2 Cup rolled oats 2 Tbsp Peanut/almond butter (PB2 works also as a low-calorie alternative) 2 Tbsp cocoa powder 1 Tbsp honey 2 Tbsp mini chocolate chips Pinch of salt Blend all the dry ingredients (cashews, protein powder, oats, cocoa powder, salt) until they resemble a finely mixed powder. Add the honey, peanut/almond butter, and mini chocolate chips, and mix by hand until the batter begins to take on a “sticky” texture. NOTE: You may need to add a touch of water from time to time to improve the texture of the batter. Adding 1-2 Tbsp at a time is usually the best strategy to ensure it doesn’t get too runny. You’ll most likely need a food processor or a heavy-duty blender in order to make these but the final steps can be processed by hand if you prefer your chocolate chips to be whole. On the plus side, these can be put in the freezer if need be.
5. FRUIT AND PROTEIN “DIP”
Did you know that you can turn protein powder into peanut butter or caramel sauce? Well, maybe not the same flavor but you can mimic the texture at least. I began to experiment with this when I was making endless peanut butter sandwiches back in my college days. I got tired of carrying around protein shakes with my sandwiches, so instead I would simply mix up the protein and spread it on the bread along with the peanut butter. Turns out, most protein powders contain thickening agents such as xantham or guar gum which help to enhance the palatability (i.e. “mouth feel”) of certain products. Typically powders advise you use 6-8 oz. of water to make a shake. Well, if you use 3-4 Tbsp of water and progressively mix, the powder will dissolve and you’ll be left with a sticky toffee-like consistency, which can spread on anything or be used as a topping/dip. PRO TIP: This works exceedingly well with chocolate protein and peanut butter. #Reeses

HOW TO WIN OVER DEPRESSION

by Creflo Dollar 18 Feb 2019

SUMMARY

Feelings are a part of everyone’s lives, but as believers, we do not have to be dominated by them. It is God’s will that we control our emotions and achieve emotional stability. We have been given authority in every realm and we have the power to defeat negative emotions, including depression; therefore, we are accountable for the way we feel. This is something we need to know, so that when our feelings threaten to sweep us away, we can resist the urge. Our emotions can either move us closer to, or away from, God’s will for us. They actually control the direction of our lives. Knowing what the Word says about our feelings allows us to master life instead of letting life master us.
A. When we are thinking correctly, trouble does not have the power to make us worried.
1. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth(3 John 1:2).
a. Another word for prosperity is “wholeness.” God wants us to be complete and whole, with nothing missing and nothing broken.
2. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace(Romans 8:6).
a. Regardless of how long we have been saved, the inability to control our emotions reveals that we are still spiritually immature Christians.
b. We must not think it strange when trouble shows up to derail our emotions.
c. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3:12).
d. Jesus has already handled whatever situation we are going through.
e. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33).
f. A carnal mind is dominated by the five senses; a spiritual mind is only possible through the Word of God.
g. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63).
3. Depression can be viewed from three different perspectives.
a. It is a result of external pressures in our lives getting inside our hearts and weighing us down.
b. It is stress and pressure internalized. At this point, we are constantly thinking about the issue.
c. It is feelings that come from thinking thoughts that weigh us down.
B. Godly wisdom shows us how our relationships with others can affect our emotions.
1. Depression is a demonic spirit. Therapists and psychologists can only help us manage depression; the Word of God teaches us how to completely banish it from our lives.
a. Whatever or whoever we expose ourselves to affects what we think about, and what we think about affects how we feel. How we feel determines our decisions; we should not make decisions based on negative feelings. This is because negative decisions lead to negative actions. Those actions create habits, and those habits create our character that brings us to our destination.
2. Other people can have a tremendous influence on us.
a. We must value ourselves enough to disconnect from negative “friendships.” If those relationships cost us our peace, they are too expensive to maintain. We must not spend our peace on someone else’s drama.
3. The three types of relationships are “outer court,” “inner court,” and “holy of holies.” Not everyone should be allowed behind the veil.
a. “Outer court” people are casual acquaintances that we may know superficially.
b. “Inner court” people are individuals with whom we have a casual friendship and socialize with occasionally.
c. “Holy of holies” people are those we open ourselves up to and share our most personal feelings with. We drop all acts and pretenses, and show our true selves to them.
C. Emphasizing our relationship with God more than with other people brings us peace.
1. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you(1 Peter 5:7).
a. If a thought is weighing us down, we must simply let it go.
b. This applies to everyone; we allhave had cares at one time or another.
c. God tells us to give our cares to Him because He loves us. Once we do so and the care later tries to re-assert itself, we must refuse to carry it. We should do this as often as necessary.
d. When we have negative thoughts and feelings, we must replace them with the Word of God.
2. Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee(Hebrews 13:5).
a. “Conversation” in this context refers to our lifestyle. Our lifestyle must be free of the greed and idolatry that puts money or other things before God.
b. Life is the sum total of relationships, not the material things we collect.
c. But godliness with contentment is great gain(1 Timothy 6:6).
d. It is hard for us to be content when we compare ourselves to others.
e. What we have will never seem to be enough when we are overly concerned with measuring what we have against what others have. Only when we consider our vertical relationship with Christ instead of our horizontal relationships with others will we realize that what we have in Him is always more than enough.
3. Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!](Hebrews 13:5, AMPC).
a. “Love of money” is when we trust it more than God.
b. We have God’s eternal and unchanging promise that He will always stick by us, no matter what happens.
D. We can change our way of thinking by taking authority over worry and anxiety.
1. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you(Philippians 4:8, 9).
a. Our thought lives are extremely important. They determine what kind of person we are.
b. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…(Proverbs 23:7).
c. Depression is a way of thinking.
2. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?(Matthew 6:25-31).
a. We have authority over our thoughts; we can be custodians maintaining the way we think.
b. We should not have anxiety over the basic needs of life.
c. Worry is actually meditation on negative thoughts.
d. “Little faith” does not mean tiny faith; it means faith that is not kept out in the field doing its job until we see physical, tangible results. We need consistent faith, even when the circumstances are bad.
e. We “take” a thought by saying it. Verbalizing it gives it life.
