Bowie State Honors Student-Athletes at Annual Spring Banquet

BOWIE, Md. (May 8) – Bowie State University held its Spring 2018 Athletic Awards Banquet to honor its student-athletes in the Student Center Ballroom on campus.
Student-athletes and cheerleaders were awarded for their academic and athletic achievements.

Junior bowler Diamond Carter and junior quarterback Amir Hall were selected Female and Male Athlete of the Year respectively. Hall was also selected as the BSU Male Student-Athlete of the Year while senior basketball player Lisa Jing was named Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Bowie State Athletics also presented 16 Volunteer of the Year awards during the evening and announced Shadae Swan (Women’s Basketball) as Female Team Coach of the Year and Damon Wilson (Football) Male Team Coach of the Year.

Most Valuable Runner – Zuwena Johnson

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Lisa Wiggins Courage Award –Juantre Rush
Most Improved Runner – Ikepfua Olumese
Most Valuable Runner – Robert Thomas

WOMEN’S BOWLING
Most Improved – Chantel Farlow
Most Improved Sophomore – Bre’Ana Jones
Most Valuable Bowler – Diamond Carter

Offensive Player of the Year – Tiffany Bearns
Defensive Player of the Year – Ja’seph Smith
