WASHINGTON FOOTBALL LEGENDS SCHOLARSHIP GALA TO HONOR SUPER BOWL XXII CHAMPION REDSKINS TEAM

March 2, 2018 (Washington, D.C.) – Washington Football Legends today announced that it will honor the 30th Anniversary of the Super Bowl
XXII Champion Washington Redskins, including MVP Doug Williams during its 10th Annual Washington Football Legends Scholarship Gala
on April 7 at the Bethesda North Marriott. The 2018 award honorees are:
Bobby Mitchell Champion of the Gridiron
Washington Redskins Super Bowl XXII Championship Team
Washington Football Legends Redskins Player of the Year
Moses Morgan, Offensive Line
College Player of the Year, Presented by BMW and Mini of Sterling
Amir Hall, Bowie State University
Herman Boone High School Player of the Year
Ricky Slade, C.D. Hylton High School
Additionally, the evening will pay tribute to
Jim Vance, who passed away after last year’s Gala. Vance, the media legend with
NBC4 Washington, served as Master of Ceremonies for this event
many times, and was also honored in 2015 as the George Michael
Excellence in Media Award winner.
“Jim meant so much to our community,” said Thomas Moorehead, owner of the Sterling Automotive Group and co-founder of
The Joyce & Thomas Moorehead Family Foundation. “His support of our gala helped us raise money for countless scholarships for students in need throughout the region.”
The
Washington Football Legends Scholarship Gala honors the achievements of
Greater Washington, D.C. area football players, community leaders,
members
of the media and Washington Redskins legends. The honorees are chosen
by a Selection Committee comprised of respected media members
Glenn Harris, Chick Hernandez, Larry Michael and Rick “Doc” Walker.

Washington Football Legends Scholarship Gala has helped provide
hundreds of scholarships to kids in the area for 10 years now,” said
Super Bowl
XXII MVP, and current Redskins Senior Vice President of Player
Personnel, Doug Williams. “Washington D.C. is a special place and a community we all love. The support of
Marriott International, the Washington Redskins and so many others has been instrumental in making this program a great success.”

Washington Football Legends Scholarship Gala is a nostalgic evening of
tribute, food and fun to honor football legends in our nation’s capital
& provide scholarships
for minority higher education assistance. In addition to honoring the
greatest football players, sportscasters and philanthropists in the
region, the Washington Football Legends event has awarded over $250,000
in grants and scholarships to minority students
in the Washington, D.C. area. The evening is hosted annually by the Joyce & Thomas Moorehead
Foundation and the Shack Harris & Doug Williams Foundation.
