The Truth About Cancer-Cancer Survivor Story - Ryder Sternagel’s (Story told by His Father, Ryan) - Neuroblastoma

Teddy and Ryan’s children cancer story began in May of 2014, while Teddy (Ryder’s mother) was nursing him, she noticed a lump in Ryder’s back right next to his spine. Being born in the 90th percentile in height and weight, they weren’t too worried but they thought that something may not be right. After being told to just “wait and see” for six weeks (which they didn’t) the Sternagel’s were finally granted an ultrasound which immediately led to an MRI on May 16th, 2014 (eleven days before Ryder’s first birthday). The MRI came back with devastating news. It turns out that Ryder had a rare form of childhood cancer called neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma in children is extremely rare. Neuroblastoma is a type of cancer that starts in very early forms of nerve cells found in an embryo or fetus. The Sternagel’s natural neuroblastoma treatment involved juicing, Vitamin C IVs, and an infrared sauna just to name a few alternative neuroblastoma treatments that most conventional doctors hadn’t heard of. Today, Ryder still has neuroblastoma but many of his tumors have gone away and the main one near his spine, has shrunk 5% to date. The family has also started a podcast where they give up to date information on Ryder and have inspired others through their child's cancer survivor story.
