CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior Amir Hall (Bowie, Md.) and senior transfer Jalen Neal (Detroit, Mich.) earn CIAA Weekly Honors for Week #8 as selected by the conference's head coaches and Sports Information Directors on Monday afternoon. This marks the sixth time in eight weeks Hall has been voted to the conference’s weekly honor roll and this is Neal’s first time being honored.
Hall threw for over 300 yards for the sixth time this season, completing 25-of-44 passes for a game-high 386 yards and three touchdowns in Bowie State 's 44-20 win versus Virginia Union. Neal graded out as the top offensive lineman for the Bulldogs, helping the team account for 594 yards of total offense.
No. 20 Bowie State will host Lincoln (Pa.) University this Saturday (October 28th) for Homecoming 2017 at 1 p.m. in Bulldogs Stadium.
Bowie State Moves Up to #20 in AFCA Poll
WACO, TEX.– No. 11 Ferris State (Mich.) scored a touchdown with 15 seconds remaining to upset conference rival and then-No. 7 Grand Valley State (Mich.), 28-27. The Bulldogs have won six of the last eight meetings against the Lakers.
Northwest Missouri State still sits No. 1 with all 34 first-place votes. The Bearcats are followed by Shepherd (W.Va.), Minnesota State, Indiana (Pa.) and Midwestern State (Texas), who round out the Top 5.
Slippery Rock (Pa.), Delta State (Miss.) and Southeastern Oklahoma State fell out of the Top 25, making room for No. 22 Findlay (Ohio), No. 23 Central Missouri and No. 24 Colorado State-Pueblo. Central Missouri and Colorado State-Pueblo both re-enter the poll after being ranked earlier this year, but this is Findlay’s first ranking since September 22, 2014 when the Oilers were ranked No. 25.
There is only one Top 25 matchup this week, and it is a Top 10 battle between unbeaten teams as new No. 3 Minnesota State hosts No. 10 Winona State (Minn.). The winner will have the upper hand in who wins the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division.
