DR. O: PEEING OUT KETONES DOESN’T MEAN YOU’RE IN KETOSIS

Presented On US Sports Net by BPI Sports

James Grage: I want to try and dispel this myth about ketones, because I think that’s where there’s a lot of confusion. People think that ketones themselves are some sort of magic fat-burning chemical. You see people online where a lot of the newer products out there have a lot of BHB in them, and I think they believe that the more ketones that they’re ingesting, the more that’s going to help them burn fat, which is not the case. Matter of fact, theoretically, you can burn less fat. Because if you’re taking in a certain amount of exogenous ketones, why would your body need to convert any more?
Dr. Brett Osborn: That’s true. That’s why I tell my patients, whether it’s eating olive oil, whether it’s using ketones, whatever it is, you induce the body to better burn fat or more efficiently burn fat, but that’s it. The bottom line is that you’re stoking those pathways so that when you’re sleeping, as an example, you’re going to be a more efficient fat burner. So I always tell people, eat fat, burn fat. But you can also say to somebody, “Eat ketones!” It’s going to further stoke the fat-burning pathways. The only difference between ketosis and being right on the edge of ketosis is that you’ve pushed the fat mobilization one degree further. But it’s nothing magic.
James: So here’s a distinction that I think people need to understand. I read a lot of things, especially about products that have exogenous ketones. Let’s say you slip on your diet and you consume too many bad carbohydrates. The products claim, “Go ahead and consume this and it’s going to put you right back into ketosis.” First of all, if you’re giving your body that source of ketones, which is just a source of energy, but you still have those carbohydrates, you can’t do it.
Dr. O: No. It’s complete garbage.
James: And here’s I think an even more important distinction that people need to understand: your body has to be in a fat-burning state before you can even be in true ketosis.
Dr. O: That’s the definition of nutritional ketosis. People think that when they drink a ton of exogenous ketones and then pee on a stick they’re in ketosis. You’re peeing out ketones, but you are definitely not in ketosis. You have to be very robustly burning fat. Ketosis is just the extreme. If you have depleted your carbohydrates for X number of hours and the liver glycogen is gone, that’s gonna be the signal for your body to start producing ketones. But if you have not been in that state for X number of hours, you are not going to be in ketosis just because you drank something.

James: Excuse the language, but it’s a total mind *$%& for people to take in a bunch of BHB, pee on a keto strip, and see ketones, despite the fact that they just ingested a lot of carbohydrates. You are not in ketosis. You’re tricking yourself.
Dr. O: You’re falsifying the test and tricking yourself.
James: Peeing out ketones doesn’t mean that you’re in ketosis and it doesn’t mean that you’re burning fat.
Dr.O: That’s 1000% correct.

Why Millions of Homeowners are going for Modern Home Security Alarm Systems across the World?
By: Michael Harris

U.S burglary and home robbery crime data shows grave rates. It can give you stress if you look at it. But that’s how you would know that home security is a matter of serious concern. Our local newspapers are full of crime reports like home invasion, robbery, homicide, burglary and the list goes on.

According to an FBI report, 278,600 intrusions occurred after 6pm and 486,006 occurred during bright daylight in 2016. Many intruders confessed they prefer homes that have no security systems installed or are vacant for months.
Due to growing security concerns, home security has become a must for everyone. No matter if you own an apartment, a condo or a mobile home, buy a home security alarm system to secure your life and property.

Here are some other reasons why millions of homeowners are going for modern home security alarm systems:

1. Reliability
There is a huge difference between having an old traditional or a modern home security system at home. A modern home security alarm system is based on latest technology. It helps reduce problems that a traditional home security systems used to have. This makes modern home security systems more reliable and trustworthy.

2. More Options
Modern home security systems offer more options for the homeowners. There are plethora of security devices and equipment that are designed to make sure your family stays safe and happy at home. Home automation, home safety, energy management, home entry and medical aid are some of the equipment categories that best modern home alarm systems offer to users.

3. Tamper Proof
New technology has made it sure that home security devices are tamper proof. This was not the case before. Burglars could disarm traditional home alarm systems or mess with them easily. This is not possible in the modern wireless home security systems. They can’t be tampered by cutting any cord because there aren’t any wires. . Moreover, any attempt of trespassing can be detected and the invader will be caught in time, ensuring your protection.

4. 2-Way Voice Com
One of the most beneficial features of modern home security alarm systems is two-way voice communication. This feature enables you to talk with the monitoring person on the other side with the help of 2-way voice speaker and communicate your message timely. Suppose there is an emergency and all the home phones are blocked. So that’s one way you can use this feature if you need to deliver your message to the monitoring agents.

5. No False Alarms
Modern home alarm systems have reduced false alarm risks to zero. This means, you don’t have to worry about extra payments to the police and fire safety departments anymore. The monitoring agents would use 2-way voice com to confirm any alarm before dispatching first responders at your home address. Furthermore, the home alarm equipment is pet friendly. So, next time your pet won’t be a cause of any false alarm at home, thanks to the latest Passive Infrared (PIR) technology.

6. Maximum Protection
Innovative home security technology has made sure the protection of your home and family. Not only that, the devices are made pet friendly so that pet lovers can also keep their pets at home without worrying about false alarms and other nuisances. There are medical aid devices for elderly care too. This is to ensure their protection at home. Leadership Attitude: The Stockdale Paradox
By: Harris Murray

James B. Stockdale was one of the highly respected Vice admiral in the history of United States Navy. He set a remarkable example and won many awards for his high levels of spirit, courage and endurance. He was also Vice Presidential candidate in 1992.

James Stockdale was prisoner of war from September 9, 1965 to February 12, 1973 in Vietnam War. Stockdale credited that his stoic nature helped him to survive as a Prisoner of War.

Jim Collins included Stockdale philosophy as Stockdale Paradox in his renowned book ‘Good to Great’ as "confronting the brutal fact of the situation, yet at the same time, never give up hope."

When interviewed by Jim Collins about Vietnamese Prisoner of War (POW) camp, Stockdale said "I never lost faith in the end of the story, I never doubted not only that I would get out, but also that I would prevail in the end and turn the experience into the defining event of my life, which, in retrospect, I would not trade."

And when asked about who didn't make it out, Stockdale replied, "Oh, that’s easy, the optimists. Oh, they were the ones who said, 'We're going to be out by Christmas.' And Christmas would come, and Christmas would go. Then they'd say, 'We're going to be out by Easter.' And Easter would come, and Easter would go. And then Thanksgiving, and then it would be Christmas again. And they died of a broken heart."

Stockdale was born in Abingdon, Illinois in 1923. He graduated from Naval Academy in 1947 and joined Naval air station Pensacola, Florida for flight training. He received masters in International relations and Marxist theory from Stanford University and later preferred to be a fighter pilot. He rose through ranks quickly and reached highest position as a fighter squadron commander.

Stockdale was held as Prisoner of War in 1965 in North Vietnam while working on a mission in Vietnam War. There he was sent to one of the most infamous Hao Lo prison where he was brutally tortured physically and mentally. In the seven years where he was kept captive as prisoner of war, despite severely beaten, malnourished, asphyxiated, and spent few years in total dark room, he never succumbed to the North Vietnam captors.

During his seven years as POW, he resisted to cooperate with the captors, even when he was placed in solitary confinement. He was locked with leg irons in a bath stall, beaten, and whipped. He resisted them using him for propaganda by hurting himself relentlessly. When Stockdale came to know that he was to be paraded in public before foreign journalists by captors, he slashed his scalp with a razor to disfigure himself, so that the captors do not take him and use him for propaganda. When they put a hat, he had beaten his face with a stool to be swollen beyond recognition. When captors told him that other POWs are dying under torture, he slit his wrists to show that he preferred death rather to capitulate.

His uncanny determination is widely respected. He received ‘Medal of Honor’ in 1976, the highest military decoration awarded by the US government along with 26 other personal combat decorations.

Yahoo Small Business-Improve Your Website's Branding with New Domain Extensions

Presented on US Sports Net By Yahoo Small Business👌

BY | SMALL BUSINESS

Guest post by Alisha Shibli
Radix Content Marketing Specialist
In today’s business world, few terms or concepts are as pervasive—even sacred—as your brand.  So, what is a brand, really? It’s not a logo or a slogan or the colors you choose. Your brand is the sum of others’ experiences with you. It’s all the emotions people conjure when they think of you.
How your brand feels to others is not completely in your control. But you can take steps to influence how your brand is perceived and deliver an experience that matches the audience’s positive perception to create brand resonance. Lately most of this experience is happening in the online world. So the question arises: Where is your brand in the digital space?

The short answer is that it’s everywhere.
The longer answer is that when it comes to the online world, your brand is anywhere people engage with you or talk about you. Usually, your website will be the main source of all conversations because it’s where customers come to learn about your company. This is one of the reasons why your web address has to be spectacular – it’s creating  the first impression of your business.
As a consequence, brands are investing heavily in building a strong digital persona, with each new marketing campaign having its own website, microsite or a landing page. Amidst all this noise, it becomes more and more difficult to be effectively heard.

How Do You Brand Your Website?

The first step to website branding is getting the right domain name, more specifically, the right domain extension.
Over the last couple of decades, a multitude of businesses have claimed some really good domain names; forcing newcomers to scramble for a consolation web address. While this not-so-great web address might look like a reasonable solution on paper; in reality, it winds up being long, unwieldy, difficult to say or spell, and hard to print on business cards.
Luckily, where there used to be scarcity in online naming options, there are now more than 1,200 new domain extensions available. Options such as .TECH, .STORE, .FUN, .SPACE, .PRESS, .WEBSITE, and .ONLINE are doing an incredible job of making business web addresses look brandable, cool and functional.
It’s disheartening when the name you want isn’t available. That’s where these new options come to play. They are not just a last resort—they’re a primary choice for businesses as large as Emirates (www.emirates.store) and Google (www.abc.xyz).

New Domain Extensions are Branding Magic

“If a phrase is easy to say and spell, it can be as memorable—or more memorable—than single-word names,” says Margaret Wolfson, founder and creative director at River + Wolf, a verbal and visual branding firm based in New York City. “Using the final word of the phrase makes the name kinder on typing fingers, an important factor to consider in today’s world of digital media.”
One of the ways to make your name kinder and your branding more effective is to have domain extensions that define your core competence. That’s what makes your brand name more meaningful, memorable and searchable. Additionally, one of the biggest benefits of new domain extensions is that the most desirable names are likely to be available on relevant extensions such as .TECH, .STORE and .FUN.

New Domains for Branding Links or Shortened URLs

A branded link is simply a short link – a shorter version of a URL you want to share online (especially on platforms like Twitter with limited character limits) - built around a brand name or related term.
URL shorteners are a part of link management that should be considered for every business that is interested in establishing their brand and building a positive image. Branded links help to:
  • Direct your readers and visitors to updated, relevant content they are looking for
  • Avoid looking spammy and instead come across as someone who is ahead of the curve
  • Stand out on social media – to say more in less characters
With URL shortening services, brands now have the option to use a shortened link that not only highlights their brand name, but also the content that they share; reinforcing brand awareness and enhancing their brand recognition.

New Domains for Branding Email Addresses

Your email address conveys a lot about your brand. It may seem like a tiny detail in the larger branding picture, but it’s supremely important. Having one of the new domain extensions as your website URL can help your brand stand out from the crowd. Your email addresses will start incorporating that domain extension, making your email look intriguing, reliable and trustworthy. In these times of information overload, anything that stands out will facilitate a better engagement rate.

New Domains for Branding Products or Services

If you’re selling products or services, particularly if you’re promoting them individually, then it’s a worthwhile investment to secure those names as domains in relevant domain extensions. These can be specialized landing pages for those products and guide your customers into a sales funnel, either on a separate site or your primary website. You can also redirect the domains to specific pages or sections of your website.
Amazon did this with the Kindle. The www.kindle.store redirects you to the relevant page on their main website.
In these innovative ways, brands are investing heavily in tools and resources that help them build a strong digital brand. For example, a motor brand launching a “fun” new car could choose carname.FUN and promote it heavily to hammer the positioning well in the consumer’s mind. On the other hand, a co-working space could choose a .SPACE domain to make the website address keyword rich, yet short and memorable.
The bottom line is: Your domain name communicates an integral message about your brand and influences your audience’s perceptions. New web addresses are flexible and meant to accommodate a wide range of uses. As the registrant, it’s in your power to register and use them as you see fit. So make the most of it!

JAMES GRAGE: MISSION SHRED – EPISODE 4

Presented On US Sports Net by BPI Sports!

Meal prep is a critical part of any diet, let alone a diet for a show. As James Grage gets closer and closer to stepping on stage at the Arnold, his nutrition plan becomes increasingly important. In this episode, he starts off by walking us through some of the food he preps every week. [Video Below]
First up is his wife Annik’s famous tuna salad. She starts with eight large cans of albacore tuna in water, not oil. Dump each can into a strainer and rinse the meat with water. Then she pours a cup of pickle juice over the tuna to help remove some of the fishy taste. Make sure to do this while the tuna is still in the strainer. Next, she adds carrots, celery, onion, chopped pickles, pickled jalapenos, mustard, salt, and pepper.
While Annik works on the tuna salad, James prepares steamed broccoli and cauliflower to use as his carbs. Although he’s not a fan of either vegetable, they are the perfect carb for his low-carb days. Once the veggies are steamed, he seasons them and then purees them into a mash. Even though he’s only allowed 25g of carbs per meal, preparing his vegetables this way allows him to eat quite a lot and fill up his stomach without taking in too many carbs.
James: If you’re starving on your diet, you need to rethink your strategy.

This episode takes place on Jan. 1, so James has now survived holiday parties, New Year’s parties and more, managing to stick to both his diet and training plan. Some of his old injuries still haunt him, so he tries to work out with Kerby and Mike on his leg days. These are typically the most painful, so it helps to have the guys there to motivate him. Watch the full episode above to learn more about the injuries James sustained.
