Soccer Training Compilation

Michael Boyle - November 16, 2018
One sport that we have strong interest in is soccer so we decided to put together a compilation of our top soccer training articles to make finding info easy.

Around the ball. Dutch soccer conditioning!

Chi L. Chiu
Spain has rightfully won the World Cup Soccer 2010, beating the Dutch with 1-0 in the finals. Although they did not became world champion, Dutch soccer coaches have been successful all over the world. One of them brought the teams of South-Korea (WC 2002) and Russia (Euro 2008) to the semifinals, after only three months of preparation. These teams were assembled from mediocre players at best. What can we learn from it?
No skills? Compensate!
Soccer is, like most ballgames, a simple game. You either have the ball or you don't. This will lead to three phases in the game: the attack, the switch and the defense. When a team is forced in defense, they will build up pressure and cover. Aggressive chasing will force mistakes during an attack. Although it requires tactics and ball skills, it is very dependent on speed and stamina that leads quickly to fatigue. The second half of the match usually opens up because of it, which basically means that is harder to maintain pressure and cover. The last 15 minutes you'll notice an extra drop in performance. The distance in high intensity running is 20 percent lower than in the first 15 minutes. It explains why one third of the goals are produced in those last 15 minutes and also why mediocre teams with superior conditioning can excel at world cups. They compensate in area's that matter!
Right man at the right place
It is said that success is a matter of the right man in the right place. Nothing could be closer than the truth with soccer. The ball is usually less than a second in possession, before it is passed on to the next player. On average, a player has 60 to 90 seconds contact with the ball in a 90 minute game. The time lag between accepting the ball and passing on is unbelievable low, leaving you wondering whether the players have eyes in the back of their heads. It all boils down to communication and tactics and you see a lot of mistakes during world cups, where newly formed teams have short preparation times....... Join StrengthCoach.com to read the rest of this and other articles....

Tactical Bodyweight Workouts Present Police Activity Featuring: Dashcam Shows Ohio Cop Disarm Young Boy Armed With 2 Knives

** (Disclaimer: This video content below is intended for educational and informational purposes only) ** A Grove City Police officer may have saved a boy’s life after his quick actions ended a tense situation. A 12-year-old boy ran away and took two large knives from a Dollar Tree store on Hoover Road. The officer was able to get the boy to drop those knives before anyone was hurt. The entire ordeal was captured on a dash cam inside the cruiser of one of the officers who rushed to the scene. On the dash cam video, the boy can be seen holding the large knives in the middle of the parking lot. “I’m just trying to keep my distance, talk to him, see what’s going through his head,” said Officer Brandon Judd, one of the officers who responded to the scene. “Obviously he’s going through some sort of crisis.” The boy repeatedly held one of the knives to his throat. “I wasn’t sure what his intentions were, if he was going to hurt himself or hurt me or try to hurt another innocent bystander,” he said. A cruiser pulls up close to the boy. “We didn’t communicate at all,” Judd said. “We all knew what was going on. They knew what I was doing. I knew what they were doing without actually saying a word.” Judd used the cruiser as a distraction. “I figured if I could slowly walk out of his view, maybe he would forget about me,” he said.

The officer even turned down his radio so the boy wouldn’t hear him coming. “(I’m) going against our training,” Judd said. “I knew I’d be able to overpower the kid if I could get close enough.” He moved in and grabbed the boy’s wrists to get him to drop the knives. “I didn’t think too much about it until it was all over with,” Judd said. “Once I walked away I was shaking and I couldn’t believe what just happened and how well everything turned out.” Another officer can be seen squatting next to the boy. Grove City Police said that officer told the boy he’d be okay, and they’d take care of him. “It was a huge relief,” Judd said. “People may not realize that even though he’s a small child, he could still hurt somebody or hurt himself with those knives.” Judd said police officers are trained to keep their distance from anyone with a knife. He said he only moved in because it was a child, and he was confident he could overpower him. He said if the same situation happened with an adult, he wouldn’t have tried that. Police records said the boy was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and eventually released. He will be facing a series of charges including assault, inducing panic, aggravated menacing and theft. Donate to PoliceActivity: https://www.patreon.com/PoliceActivity

Joel Osteen Recent Messages Featuring: Victoria Osteen - The Power of Remembering

In the Old Testament, God commanded the children of Israel to take time out of their busy schedule, several times of year, to remember the miracles; how he parted the Red Sea, how he brought water out of the rock, how manna came down from heaven. He wanted them to pause and remember the wonders he had done. So often we forget when we should remember. Sometimes, we remember what we should forget. Let's remember the good to strengthen our life. The Psalmist said, "remember what the Lord has done. I remember his marvelous works." What we are remembering is so very important in our life. Let's remember the good. This is message #727, "The Power of Remembering", by Victoria Osteen. For more inspirational messages, visit https://www.JoelOsteen.com/Messages

God Has a String on It

Post by Joel Osteen

When I was a little boy, my father gave me a cowboy puppet made out of wood. It had two small gloves where I put my fingers and had strings attached to its different parts. When I moved one finger right, the puppet waved. My other finger caused him to shake his head. I could make him dance, make him run, make him lie down. I loved that puppet so much. I would get behind a curtain and put on puppet shows for my little sister. All she could see was the puppet. She would laugh when the puppet danced and wave when the puppet waved. She was so engrossed in the show that she forgot I was pulling the strings, orchestrating his every move.
In a similar way, you're not doing life on your own. God is behind the scenes pulling the strings, so to speak, orchestrating your life. The Scripture says, "God's strong hand and outstretched arm are toward you" (Psalm 136:12). The One who controls your strings is not limited by the natural; He's supernatural. You can't see Him; He's behind the scenes, but He controls the universe. He's working all things according to His will and for your good. When God is ready to promote you, He doesn't check with your supervisor. He simply pulls the string. He controls what doors open. He controls what breaks come your way. Don't be discouraged by your boss. God has a string on your boss. Don't lose sleep over the people who are against you. God has a string on who's trying to stop you. When it's time, He'll pull the string. You don't have to be stressed because you have opposition and things haven't worked out. You're still connected. God has strings on you and everything affecting you.
What are you worrying about? Why are you losing sleep? You may not see how it can work out, but what you can't see is the Most High God is maneuvering things in your favor. You don't have to worry. God has a string on it. Don't get discouraged about that door you couldn't open. God has a string on it. He has a string on your finances. He's about to bring promotion, opportunity, and increase that you didn't see coming. You're going to know it was the outstretched hand of God pulling strings. That sickness that's been there a long time, stay in faith. God has a string on it. He's about to pull healing to you, freedom to you, wholeness to you.
Live from a place of peace, knowing that nothing happens randomly—your steps are divinely orchestrated.
