Shocked doctors forced to admit cancer cure works

Shocked Doctors
Forced to Eat Crow

. . .after patients use
The 31-Day Home Cancer Cure

Kevin Irish Image
“Congratulations! You're cancer free!”
declared Rev. Cobus Rudolph's doctor after Rev. Rudolph cured his stage four colon cancer at home

Richard Wiebe Image
“You’re a miracle from God!”
said Richard Wiebe’s doctor after he cured his terminal brain cancer at home

Kevin Irish Image
“Are you the terminal patient I saw
two months ago? You look great!”
remarked Kevin Irish’s doctor after Kevin cured his stage four lung cancer at home

Frank Woll Image
“Well, I know the cancer is
here somewhere”
said Frank Woll’s doctor while looking through a magnifying glass. But Frank’s deadly skin cancer was gone—totally GONE!—after he cured his cancer at home

You’re invited to see a free video presentation with all the details on these amazing cures that happened thanks to the the secrets of the 31-Day Home Cancer Cure.

You can see the proof for yourself, presented by Ty Bollinger, one of America’s top experts on alternative cancer treatments. In the free video, Ty tells you about the 31-Day Home Cancer Cure so that you won’t have to watch someone you love die in misery from outdated cancer treatments.

Ty knows exactly what’s it’s like to go through that, because he lost seven close family members to cancer, including his mom and dad. When his mother passed away, it was the last straw. He set out to find a way to beat cancer. He invested 7 years in learning about the treatments that really work. And now he wants to share what he learned with you in this free video.

If a doctor told you the important information that’s in this video, he’d lose his license and might even go to jail. Ty isn’t a doctor and he doesn’t have that problem. He's free to tell you the truth.

He also doesn’t sell the treatments or make money off of them – unlike establishment doctors who will bill you as much as $850,000 for chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. After they’ve taken your money, you’re almost sure to die anyway -- because only two out of 100 cancer patients survive once the cancer has spread from where it first started.

That's why it makes sense to at least consider the proven alternatives Ty has uncovered. I'm not asking you to believe it yet – first take a look at the proof.

The 31-Day Home Cancer Cure costs so little that just about anybody can afford it – even uninsured patients on Medicaid. No wonder the cancer industry hates it!

The 31-Day Home Cancer Cure could save you or a loved one from dying an early death from cancer. There IS a better way to beat cancer than suffering through the misery of chemo and radiation. But I want YOU to decide if this is on the level. . .if this amazing treatment plan can save you the way it saved the four people at the top of this page. Click here and see the video!

As you’ll find out, it really is amazing how many doctors have been forced to eat crow after their “incurable” and “terminal” patients used the 31-Day Home Cancer Cure!

The cancer cure that mystifies doctors

No Accepted Medical Explanation for
These Mysterious Cures

Jordan baffled doctors when his leukemia suddenly vanished1...

Peter Crane (60) had an incurable form of blood cancer that simply disappeared 18 months after he was diagnosed2

John Matzke was just 30 when he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a particularly fatal form of skin cancer. Ten years and countless surgeries later, his cancer had spread to his lungs. Doctors told him he would die without immediate treatment. But he ignored them and took a month off to strengthen his body for the grueling treatments to come… taking long hikes in the mountains, eating healthy foods, and meditating. In addition, he pictured himself healthy, and visualized strong blood cells destroying his cancer.

Matzke's doctor repeated the chest X-ray to establish the size and location of the tumor before starting treatment. But instead of the large cancerous lesion the doctor saw… nothing.3
It's baffled doctors for hundreds of years…
These patients should be dead. After all, 350,000 people die from cancer every year in just the U.S. So how do some escape the jaws of cancer for no apparent reason?

Continued below. . .

A U.S. President refused America's
outdated cancer treatments —
Here's where he went instead
Americans would be shocked if they knew that President Reagan, while still in the White House, turned his back on American cancer treatments. He secretly sneaked off to a German clinic — and lived another 19 years.

Why? Because German cancer doctors are better — thanks to breakthrough treatments that are labeled "quackery" in the U.S. (maybe because they cost a fraction of American treatments, so there's not much profit for the cancer industry).

Suzanne Somers, Cher, William Holden and Anthony Quinn are among the celebrities who have gone to clinics you'll discover in the first guide to German cancer doctors and treatments ever published in English. Click here to learn more!
Take a nap and wake up free of cancer
Germany's top cancer doctors literally cook cancer out of your body while you nap, and you wake up pain-free! This high-tech breakthrough is banned in America, but German doctors have used it successfully on thousands of patients from all over the world — including patients American doctors gave up on.

America's cancer industry ignores the latest science and goes on pushing failed therapies that cost ten times as much. It's a fact: the hellish cancer treatments Americans take for granted are now obsolete (and that's being generous — they were never any good.) Click here and see for yourself in our guide to German cancer clinics.

Patients call it a miracle — why don't doctors?
Doctors have observed this rare and mysterious phenomenon for centuries. It's not some sort of ancient voodoo. Modern medicine cites many cases, too.

Medically speaking, spontaneous remission (or regression) refers to the unexplained and sudden disappearance of cancer.

It's a well-documented biological event, although pretty rare — at least according to the records kept by mainstream medicine.4

Memorial Sloan-Kettering President Lewis Thomas, MD, reportedly once said, "The rare but spectacular phenomenon of spontaneous remission of cancer persists in the annals of medicine, totally inexplicable but real, a hypothetical straw to clutch in the search for cure…No one doubts the validity of the observation."5 (Emphasis mine.)

The number of spontaneous regressions is usually reported as 200 to 300, or one in every 60,000 to 100,000 cases, though the source for those numbers is not clear.6

In reality, it must be a much larger number, because regression that occurs while undergoing treatment would certainly be attributed to the treatment.7

If a cancer patient is treated and then lives for five years in good health, it's natural to assume the treatment is responsible for this happy outcome. But this is not necessarily the case.

At the very least, spontaneous remission reveals that doctors and their treatments are not all-powerful, and that there exists in every one of us a mechanism with the potential to cure cancer. The question is "how?"
This kind of "progressive" definitely isn't good
Cancer is considered a "progressive" disease… it has a profound tendency to "progress" to its most usual endpoint — death.

The fact that it sometimes disappears on its own is an amazing fact, and certainly has potential to alter your view of cancer reality.

After all, if this can happen on its own, shouldn't we mortals be able to figure it out, and cause it to happen? Why can't medicine imitate nature's cures instead of devising artificial ones that oppose what your body does best?

After all, history shows us many examples of doctors or scientists observing nature and then imitating it. The smallpox vaccine was invented when a doctor observed that people who had been infected with a milder disease called cowpox became immune to deadly smallpox. By deliberately infecting a person with the less harmful disease he was able to protect them against the dangerous one.
Can a fever kill cancer?
Nearly all the reports of spontaneous regression over the past several hundred years were somehow linked to infections, and these infections were almost always accompanied by high fever. Infections that have been associated with cancer remission include diphtheria, gonorrhea, hepatitis, influenza, malaria, measles, smallpox, syphilis, tuberculosis and more.8

Take the case reported by Le Dran in 1742…

His 15-year old patient had extensive inoperable cancer in the left breast. The tumor ulcerated and gangrene followed. Within two days the entire tumor sloughed off, healing after five weeks. However, the disease recurred and the patient died eight months later.9

Similarly, in 1783 Dr. V. Trnka described a breast cancer patient who developed malaria, complete with chills, fever and sweating. In just a few weeks the patient was in complete remission.10

Even more colorful than these observations are those in 1768 regarding "the wonderful method of curing cancers by means of toads".11

A woman from Hungerford, England reportedly treated breast cancer patients by applying a toad to the breast lesion until the toad died.12 Reportedly the dead toad was allowed to remain on the breast lesion by application of a poultice for several weeks. (My reaction:Euuwww!)

Another such case was of a woman with metastatic breast cancer who had been "reduced to a mere skeleton". Her left side and stomach were swollen, plus a tumor on her neck made swallowing nearly impossible. After several months of toad treatment (but no surgery), her metastatic lesions subsided and she could easily swallow.13
Would you intentionally cause an infection?
These doctors did…
In 1752 Amoureaux treated a malignant breast tumor by applying a septic dressing. The patient subsequently developed a fever and severe inflammation — followed by complete regression within four weeks.14

Other physicians deliberately induced pus-producing sores associated with cancer surgery.15,16 Or they intentionally left incisions open to induce infection.17 These doctors thought the resulting infections were the secret to successfully overcoming cancer.

Eventually doctors tried to induce tumor regression by injecting patients with infectious agents like malaria and syphilis.18,19,20

Doctors of that day called this "laudable pus". Needless to say, it could be highly risky. Some patients died of the infections. Doctors promoted the practice, citing that "beneficial inflammation" could be produced spontaneously… and viewed such therapy as a logical extension of what had been observed for centuries.

However, Joseph Lister's methods for aseptic (i.e. germ-free, non-infectious) surgery in the late 19th and early 20th centuries caused this crude form of "immunotherapy" to fall out of favor, and these profound observations were all but forgotten.
How to produce the benefits of an infection
without actually infecting someone
Though no one today suggests cancer patients be deliberately infected with gangrene, syphilis or decomposing toads, some respected experts on cancer treatment are still exploiting the infection breakthrough.

Eminent New York surgeon Dr. William B. Coley was convinced there was a more effective cancer treatment than the standard of his time, surgery.

After combing the records of sarcoma patients at what's now Memorial Sloan-Kettering Center, he was shocked to discover the case of a German immigrant who'd undergone spontaneous remission after his doctors had declared his cancer terminal. This occurred following a severe bout of erysipelas, a streptococcal infection.

Coley searched the entire east side of New York to find the man, and discovered him in apparently good health more than seven years after his "miraculous" healing.

This inspired Coley to induce spontaneous remission by inoculating patients with erysipelas… which he later altered to safer Strep bacteria to minimize risk. His method was to induce an acute bacterial infection usually characterized by fever, chills, joint pain and general malaise.

Widely known as Coley's toxins, he and his colleagues treated thousands of cancer patients in Europe and the U.S.

His records of 900 microscopically confirmed cases showed an impressive five-year survival rate of 50%, compared to conventional chemotherapy's 2.5%. In other words, Coley's toxins were 20 times more effective than the chemotherapy of the time. Even his staunch critics admitted that a number of hopeless cancer cases were completely healed by Coley's toxins.

Despite those achievements, Coley's toxins fell into obscurity after his death in 1936, and even more after the rise of antibiotics in the 1950s. In 1963 the FDA declared Coley's toxins ineffective as a cancer treatment, and banned their use in the U.S., due to their unpredictable clinical results.
So where does that leave us today?
Some alternative doctors continue to be fascinated, amazed and curious about spontaneous regression, while most mainstream cancer doctors completely ignore it. Regular readers know that we're firm, enthusiastic advocates of a therapy called hyperthermia here at Cancer Defeated. This newsletter writes about it regularly, and most of the alternative cancer clinics we recommend in our special reports German Cancer Breakthrough and Adios, Cancer practice hyperthermia.

Hyperthermia is a therapy in which either the entire body, or just the local area affected by cancer, is heated up to fever temperatures for several hours. These days, there's no need to infect the patient with bacteria. The body temperature can be raised safely and then lowered again by a number of different methods.

It's all done under the supervision of skilled practitioners who have performed thousands of hyperthermia treatments. I've said again and again that if I had cancer myself I would seek out a clinic that offers this therapy. It's not a magic bullet cancer cure all by itself, but it's definitely one of the treatments most cancer patients should take advantage of.

Currently, there seem to be two theories on why it's effective, and no definitive answers.
The popular theory:
Cancer cells often evade detection by masquerading as healthy ones and thus avoid being detected and wiped out by the body's immune system. Some researchers speculate that a feverish infection may push your immune system into a hypersensitive status, promoting healthy immune function.

Curiously, Jordan (described above) had a mild fever of 100.58 F in the days before his parents were told his scans were cancer-free… Expecting their little boy to be dead very soon, they were going to take him to Disneyland as something to make his last days as fun and memorable as possible. It sure looks like the fever cured this child of cancer.

Based on this theory, researchers here and in Italy are using salmonella and listeria (bacterial microbes) to provoke tumor-killing immune responses, because they're so easy for your body to recognize as foreign invaders. We haven't personally interviewed doctors who are still using infectious agents this way, although we've talked to many who heat up the body without resorting to microbes.

But drug companies are hot on the chase, using a bioengineered form of listeria… the latest effort to develop "immunotherapy" drugs, or "cancer vaccines", designed to provoke your immune system into fighting tumors.

The U.S. FDA has approved the first immune-stimulating vaccine, Provenge, to attack prostate cancer. Another is in the works by Bristol-Myers Squibb for melanoma. And a clinical study is under way, involving infecting cervical cancer patients with listeria.

Many suggest that our immune systems are less alert today — thanks to antibiotics, vaccines, and our general germophobia (overuse of antibactieral soaps and so forth). According to this theory, our modern bodies encounter bacteria so rarely, we develop no immune system defenses and we're pushovers for cancer.

From the information I was able to uncover, this seems to be the dominant theory being explored today. At least it's where the money's flowing.
The new theory:
Dr. Joseph Thuo, medical officer working for the ministry of health in Nairobi, Kenya, has also studied Coley and his toxins. And he's come to a radically different conclusion.

He believes it is not an immunological issue, after all.

Thuo says the focus should be on fever, not the infectious agent. Since fever is a metabolic factor, it's likely the other factors that lead to spontaneous regression are also metabolic.

Research on various cytokines since the 1950s has proven disappointing. Cytokines are immune system molecules associated with inflammation . These immune-therapies used today haven't made a significant impact on the lives of cancer patients… a fact he says makes it clear that it's not the immune system causing tumor regression.

    So what is it?

Scientists like Dr. Thuo believe high temperatures may help shrink tumors. Even the National Cancer Institute is doing studies to find the efficacy of hyperthermia in cancer treatment.

Fever is the oldest and most universal hallmark of disease. It's induced by toxins that bacteria produce. Since fever has been a persistent response to infection for eons, it's believed to be beneficial. It's part of the body's natural, healthy response to invading microbes.

Dr. Thuo contends that fever's main effect is to increase your metabolic rate. This fits in with my preferred way of using this breakthrough — the artificially induced "fever therapy" used in German and Mexican alternative cancer clinics.

But Dr. Thuo suggests that fever has an ally…

Since fever didn't cause 100% remission to Coley's toxins, other factors common to the patients who responded well should be explored.

Starvation repeatedly surfaces as a common factor in those who responded well to the toxins. Records even frequently said that the patient was in danger of dying from starvation.

In one case, Coley infected a patient with a virulent strain of Streptococcus, resulting in severe anorexia, vomiting, and high fever. The patient's tumor immediately shrank. He remained in remission for eight years.

A woman suffered from renal (kidney) cell carcinoma with peritoneal metastases. Her surgeon considered her case utterly hopeless. He doubted she could even survive the trip home. So he gave her what he thought was a lethal dose of toxins to end her suffering — which caused a nearly instant remission of her cancer. Six weeks and 18 injections later, she was declared cancer-free, and 40 years later was doing well.

I don't know about this doctor's ethics, since it looks like his aim was to commit euthanasia. But in any case the toxins had the opposite effect and saved the patient.

Dr. Thuo asserts that the survivors had inadvertently combined starvation with high fever.

Might this explain the behavior of sick people… reduced appetite, lethargy and sleepiness involuntarily causing nutritional starvation?
Every cancer patient dreams of this outcome
We don't know nearly enough about what the possible causes of spontaneous remission may be. If doctors label a case "spontaneous remission," they're just saying the patient got well and they don't know why. And they don't do much to find out, either.

I suspect that besides the fevers and infections discussed here, many cases of so-called spontaneous remission involve patients who changed their diet or tried some of the many supplements known to fight cancer. These patients either don't tell their doctors or, if they do, the doctor thinks it's all nonsense and the finding never goes into the medical records. The patient just gets well and it's assumed to be a magical effect with no cause.

There are a lot of cancer patients out there experimenting with alternative remedies without telling their doctors.

In real life it's nearly impossible to say which factor(s), alone or combined, will bring the desired effect of cancer remission for any given person. Don't hang your hat on just one therapy and hope for the best. Try a whole bunch of 'em! That's what I recommend.

It'll be interesting to follow emerging research — most of which I predict will come from outside the U.S., given the penchant for research organizations to be errand-boys for the pharmaceutical companies they depend on.

Meanwhile, you can do your own heat treatment at home. It's not quite like the fever therapy, but it's been shown to have an incredible range of health benefits. It's perfectly safe. It's easy. And it's fun and relaxing. If you missed this story in the last issue, scroll down and take a look now.

The Incredible Healing Power
of Infrared Saunas
When it comes to revitalizing your health, reversing illness, and just making you feel great, few things compare to an infrared sauna.

Infrared saunas are clinically shown to help fight cancer, reduce blood pressure, relieve pain, reverse heart disease, promote weight loss, and give you a host of other health benefits. It's really amazing what this pleasant, safe, non-drug therapy can do for you. Keep reading!

Continued below. . .

This may be the world's best cancer cure
"If I could pick only one treatment to cure my cancer, this would be it," says a top expert on alternative cancer treatments. It's one of the world's most powerful cancer cures, according to research by Jim Sheridan, a scientist working at the Detroit Institute of Cancer Research.

Even the mainstream National Cancer Institute has confirmed this do-it-yourself treatment's ability to kill cancer cells. Want real-life proof? We've got tons. The testimonials from patients are positively awesome. You can see their faces and hear their voices yourself by clicking here.

A 54-year-old terminal cancer patient named Robert rejected chemotherapy, tried this approach, and totally got rid of his cancer in six months. Another patient named Arch was told he had only a 15% chance to live. He's still alive three years later with (in his own words) "no evidence of cancer in repeated CAT scans."

In a group of 180 cancer patients with 30 different kinds of cancer, 83 percent went into remission and were still cancer free 18 years later. Discover more — click here.

The deep healing power of infrared energy
Ever get in a car on a sunny day in winter? Wonder how it feels so warm inside when the air outside is freezing? That's the infrared light from the sun.

In this same way, infrared saunas penetrate up to 1-1/2 inches below your skin to detoxify and revitalize your cells. This produces a deep, detoxifying sweat that eliminates toxins at the cellular level. Infrared energy is powerful, yet it's so safe it's used in hospitals to warm newborn infants.
Using infrared saunas to fight cancer
Over 2,000 years ago, the famous Greek physician Parmenides said, "Give me the power to create fever, and I will cure any disease." Cancer clinics in Germany and Mexico are putting this principle to use. They routinely treat patients with hyperthermia, where the body is exposed to high temperatures. High temperatures can kill cancer cells, usually without damage to normal tissues.1

Most of the German cancer clinics that I've visited use both infrared hyperthermia and infrared saunas for their patients, and so do many of the Mexican clinics. Infrared saunas provide a form of whole-body hyperthermia that boosts your health in many ways. You can even enjoy infrared sauna at home, as I’ll explain in a moment.

In an article in the Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients, Lawrence Wilson, MD writes, "If I were to single out one method to combat cancer, it is the sauna. It assists removal of chemical toxins and heavy metals, increases oxygenation, enhances the immune system, and reduces the radiation burden in the body."2

Dr. Wilson notes that infrared sauna therapy for cancer offers a combination of healing mechanisms. They act simultaneously to support the fight against cancer. These include:
  1. Hyperthermia: Heating the body is a well-known and underused method of killing cancer cells, says Dr. Wilson. Cancer cells are weaker than normal cells and more susceptible to damage from heat. Infrared saunas are superior for this purpose, he says.
  2. Eliminate Toxins: Saunas also help purge the body of toxins, such as heavy metals and chemicals.
  3. Improving circulation. Cancer often grows in tissues with poor circulation and thus poor nutrition and oxygenation. Infrared saunas boost overall circulation. This brings nutrients, hormones, oxygen and other substances to all body tissues.
  4. Decongesting the internal organs. The liver, kidneys and other internal organs can become burdened with estrogen, chemicals, and toxic metals. Infrared saunas cause blood to move toward the body surface. This helps cleanse the internal organs.
  5. Care for your body's largest organ: Your skin is a major organ for eliminating body wastes. But in most people, it's inactive because they don't sweat enough. Infrared saunas help cleanse you from the inside. They encourage sweating and free up toxins stored beneath the skin.
Infrared treatment shrinks tumor volumes 86% in 30 days
In a clinical study published in the Journal of Cancer Science and Therapy, scientists studied far infrared's effects on human cancer cells in vitro and on cancer cells in mice. Far infrared therapy reduced tumor volumes 86% in 30 days. The tumor-suppressing effects were even seen without high temperatures, even as low as 77 degrees Fahrenheit.3

In another study, researchers in Japan discovered that whole-body hyperthermia with far infrared strongly inhibited the growth of breast cancer tumors in mice without deleterious side effects. Researchers believe this therapy is promising for long-term studies of a noninvasive treatment of breast cancer.4
The healing power of 'cellular cleansing'
Most of us don't sweat enough regularly. We live in air conditioned homes, cars, and offices. We use antiperspirants and most of us don't exercise enough. But your body was designed to sweat. And sweat is a key way to cleanse your body.     The infrared sauna is a powerful means of cellular cleansing. It increases your metabolism and boosts blood circulation. It also relaxes your muscles, soothes your spirit and rejuvenates your entire body.

The deep penetration of infrared heat releases toxins from the fat layers just beneath the skin. It also helps your body eliminate toxins from your internal organs. These toxins pass from the organs to the fat tissue under the skin. Then they are eliminated in perspiration.

To see how this works, researchers analyzed the sweat from both traditional and infrared saunas. Sweat from traditional saunas was about 97% water and 3% toxins. Infrared saunas produced a sweat that was only 80 — 85% water. The remaining 15-20% was made up of heavy metals, sulfuric acid, sodium, ammonia, uric acid and fat-soluble toxins.5
The secret to effortless detox
If you're a regular reader of this newsletter, you're well aware of the toxins we're all exposed to in modern life. You also know well that many of these toxins in our food, water and air are believed to be a major cause of increased cancer rates. If you want to prevent or reverse cancer, you not only need to reduce your intake of toxins, you also need a regular program to get these poisons out of your body.

Infrared heat is incredibly powerful because it helps you cleanse at the cellular level and release toxins stored in your fat cells. Infrared saunas are also powerful because they're such a simple, easy way to detox compared to fasting, exercise, colon cleansing, and other detox therapies.
Automatic weight loss
It is no secret that maintaining a healthy weight is important for overall quality of life. In fact, a 10-year study published by The New England Journal of Medicine found that waist circumference by itself is a critical factor in assessing the risk of premature death. In other words, if you can maintain a healthy weight, you increase your likelihood of a longer, healthier life.

Did you know that you now have basically the same number of fat cells as you did when you were born? Fat cells develop during the third trimester of pregnancy and you keep the same number your whole life. So how do you gain weight? Your fat cells store fat like a sponge that soaks up water. Infrared saunas help release fat (and the toxins stored in the fat) like squeezing water out of a sponge.

Infrared saunas have been clinically shown to dramatically aid in weight loss. A 2009 study showed that infrared saunas provide significant results in lowering weight and waist circumference in just 3 months. And for those who are sedentary due to medical conditions such as osteoarthritis, cardiovascular or respiratory problems, results were even more profound.6
Burn 600 calories while sitting still!
Another study showed that 30-minute sessions in an infrared sauna can burn upwards of 600 calories. During a sauna weight loss session, your core temperature increases and the body works hard to cool itself. While using an infrared sauna, there is a substantial increase in blood flow, heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories.7

Regular use of an infrared sauna may be an effective means of cardiovascular conditioning and burning of calories, akin to regular exercise. Using an infrared sauna is like giving yourself a passive cardio workout — whenever you need it!

In just 30 minutes in an infrared sauna, you can burn as many calories and perspire as much as you would if you ran 6 miles. Yet you can spend the time relaxing, reading, meditating, listening to music, or watching a DVD.

As someone who always means to exercise and seldom gets around to it, I appreciate an easy way to get some of the benefits.
Drug-free pain relief
Infrared rays also help you naturally reduce pain and inflammation. Infrared sauna heat works by penetrating joints, muscles and tissues. It increases circulation, and boosts oxygen flow to the tissues. By reducing soreness on nerve endings, infrared heat reduces muscle spasms and helps the body heal itself naturally.

Infrared saunas are proven relief for sports injuries, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, joint pain/stiffness and other chronic pain conditions.

According to Dr. Jeffrey Spencer, a sports medicine expert from the University of Southern California and consultant to Lance Armstrong, "infrared wavelengths penetrate the body to create heat, which creates profound therapeutic benefits. They increase blood flow to the muscles, delivering more concentrated oxygen, which creates more energy to heal."
  • Significant Reduction in Chronic Pain: A study reported in Clinical Rheumatology showed that infrared saunas gave significant relief for patients with chronic pain (such as rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis). Four weeks of 30-minute, twice-weekly sessions in an infrared sauna resulted in a 40 percent improvement in pain and stiffness (for rheumatoid arthritis) and 60 percent (for ankylosing spondylitis).8
  • 70% Less Pain AFTER JUST ONE SESSION! A recent study published in Internal Medicine, showed that patients with chronic pain saw their pain levels drop by nearly 70% after their first session of infrared sauna therapy. Pain scores remained low throughout the observation period.9
Reduce blood pressure WITHOUT drugs
Infrared saunas have been clinically shown to provide one of the best, natural ways to lower blood pressure. In a 2005 clinical study by the University of Missouri Kansas City, infrared saunas were shown to lower blood pressure through a program of 30-minute infrared sauna sessions just three times per week.     The study concluded that infrared sauna therapy dilated blood vessels and reduced the thickness of their inner lining. This increased circulation and promoted healthy blood pressure.10

What's more, a Japanese study published in the October 2008 issue of The Journal of Cardiology examined the clinical effectiveness and safety of infrared blood pressure therapy, as compared to standard therapies for patients with chronic heart failure. The report concluded that far-infrared sauna therapy is both safe and effective at improving clinical symptoms and cardiac function in chronic heart failure patients. Repeated infrared sauna treatments improved impaired blood vessel functions in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. This suggests a preventive role for infrared sauna use for arteriosclerosis.11
Reverse heart disease
A study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology showed that infrared saunas help improve the function of impaired vascular endothelial cells in patients who are at risk for coronary artery disease. The infrared heat of the sauna opens capillaries to improve blood flow. 15 minutes in an infrared sauna each day for 14 days improved the function of the endothelial cells lining the arteries by 40%.12
Research also shows that infrared saunas help:
  • Relieve arrhythmias: A clinical study explored the therapeutic use of infrared saunas for patients in the end-stage of congestive heart failure. It showed that saunas helped relieve arrhythmias (an irregularity in the force or rhythm of the heartbeat).13
  • Improve congestive heart failure: In the Journal of Cardiac Failure, researchers reported statistical improvements in blood pressure, strength of heart (ejection fraction on echocardiogram), and exercise tolerance in patients treated with saunas. Saunas also helped reduce the number of hospital admissions for this condition.14
Other important health benefits
It's hard to think of an aspect of health and wellness that infrared saunas don't benefit. But other clinical studies show that infrared saunas can help you:
  • Relieve Depression: A study published in Psychosomatic Medicine looked at a group of 28 mildly depressed patients. Half of the patients utilized an infrared sauna once a day for 4 weeks and the other half had just bed rest for 4 weeks. The sauna group showed a significant improvement compared to the control group.15
  • Boost Your Immunity: Infrared saunas are clinically shown to help patients with weak immune systems, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) infections. MRSA is a potentially deadly bacterial infection that is resistant to most antibiotics. Infrared therapy knocked out the MRSA pathogens without causing increased inflammation.16
  • Give You Healthier, Younger-Looking Skin: A study published in The Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy showed significant improvements in skin appearance after just 12 weeks of sauna skin therapy using near-infrared technology. Participants saw a reduction in wrinkles and crow's feet, as well as improved overall skin tone, including softness, smoothness, elasticity, clarity and firmness.17
The health-boosting power of full-spectrum infrared
Most infrared saunas on the market produce only far infrared. However, a new development in the field is full-spectrum infrared. These are saunas that provide all of the benefits associated with far-, mid- and near-infrared rays. For instance, near-infrared energy stimulates the body's natural healing powers. Scientists call this photobiomodulation. In cancer patients, near-infrared is used for healing chemotherapy-induced ulcers and wound healing.18 Other research shows that it may be an effective treatment for herpes.19
Boost your cellular energy for supercharged healing
[Image] Table 1    Near-infrared energy boosts your cells' ability to create energy. This can help stimulate your immune system and your overall healing. It helps your liver, kidneys, intestines, lungs, skin, and other detox organs to neutralize toxins and work at peak efficiency. To create energy, the mitochondria (the power-generating centers inside every cell) depend on an enzyme called Cytochrome c oxidase. Studies show that infrared therapy recharges mitochondria. It boosts their levels of oxygen andcytochrome c oxidase. This can help you maintain a cellular energy level that's usually only seen in young people.20
How to use infrared saunas
If you're already in good health, a 30-minute sauna session three or more times a week will do. Or if you're trying to heal a specific health condition, some doctors prescribe daily or even multiple sessions each day.21

You can try an infrared sauna at a local health club, spa, or massage therapist. A typical fee is $30-$45 per 30-minute session. I also recommend purchasing one yourself. An excellent, cutting-edge manufacturer is Sunlighten, offering clinically backed full-spectrum infrared saunas. Visit their website or call 1-877-292-0020. Another reputable (albeit more expensive) brand is TheraSauna. Infrared saunas, with their myriad health benefits, are definitely an at-home therapy option worth checking out.

If you decide to contact these companies you should mention that you read about infrared saunas in Cancer Defeated.  But please be aware that these companies can’t give you advice about treatment for cancer or any other disease.  It’s against the law for them to do that. You’d be wasting your time and theirs to ask what saunas can do for cancer and probably for most other health conditions. That’s why you need to read Cancer Defeated (and other sources of health information.)  We have the first amendment right to tell you what supplement marketers and other vendors aren’t allowed to.

BOWIE STATE BULLDOGS RELEASE 2012 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

(BOWIE, Md. – March 7, 2012)  Bowie State will begin its 40th overall season of intercollegiate football and look to improve on last season’s mark of 4-6 (3-4 CIAA).  The Bulldogs began playing football in 1972 under the leadership of Staley Jackson and are now under the direction of fourth-year head coach Damon Wilson.

“This is probably one of the most competitive and balanced schedules we’ve had in our three seasons”, said Wilson.  “Our first five games will give us a good indication as to where the Bulldogs should fair towards the end of the season.”

Bowie State University will kick off its 10-game, 2012 season with a Saturday, September 1st home game against Assumption College in Bulldogs Stadium.  The Bulldogs rolled to a relatively easy 28-7 season opening road victory over the Greyhounds last season.  Assumption, a member of the Northeast-10 Conference finished with a 4-6 record in 2011.

The Bulldogs travel to Columbia (S.C.) for a Thursday (September 6th) night non-conference contest against Benedict College in week two.  Bowie State hosted Benedict in the Bulldogs’ home opener last season, beating the Tigers 31-14.  The Tigers (2-8 in 2011) are members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).

Bowie State welcomes the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State College to Bulldogs Stadium – Saturday (September 15th).  The Fighting Falcons defeated Bowie State last season by the score of 49-20 at Fairmont State and lead the series 2-0.  Fairmont State finished the year with a 7-4 overall record.

Saint Augustine’s College (4-6 in 2011) returns to the Bowie State schedule for the first time since the 2003 campaign.  Bowie State will make their first trip to Raleigh since the inaugural Falcons / Bulldogs game in 2002.  The Bulldogs and Falcons meet in the George Williams Complex on the SAC campus - Saturday (September 22nd).  Bowie State edged the Falcons 14-6 in 2003 and leads the series 2-0.

The defending CIAA Champions and NCAA semifinalist of Winston-Salem State University bring their high-powered offense to Bowie State Saturday (September 29th).  The Rams and Bulldogs have not met on the gridiron since 2004 with BSU squeezing out a 7-6 home victory over WSSU.  Winston-Salem State leads the overall series 12-5 and ended their 2011 season with a 13-1 record.

Bowie State travels to Murfreesboro (N.C.) to take on Chowan University – Saturday (October 6th).  The Hawks tallied a 3-7 record last season and beat the Bulldogs 38-35 in BSU’s 2011 season finale.  The series is tied 1-1 with the Bulldogs winning the inaugural (2010) game by a score of 59-19.

The Bulldogs will celebrate Homecoming 2012 against the Trojans of Virginia State University on Saturday (October 13th).  Virginia State beat Bowie State last season, capturing a stunning 28-21 overtime win.  Virginia State holds a 17-8 series advantage over Bowie State.  The Trojans finished second in the CIAA North with a record of 5-5.

Bowie State hits the road following Homecoming, making stops at Virginia Union University (Saturday, October 20th) and Lincoln University of Pennsylvania (Saturday, October 27th).  The Bulldogs dropped a tough 32-29 nationally televised decision against VUU’s Panthers last.  Bowie State trails in the overall series (10-17-1).  Virginia Union placed third overall in the conference’s Northern Division and ended the year with a 5-5 record.  Lincoln (2-8 in 2011) lost 22-10 to Bowie State last season and BSU leads the series 3-0.

Bowie State will close out the regular season at home on Saturday (November 3rd) against the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University.  ECSU’s Vikings downed the Bulldogs 23-12 last year and finished the season as conference runner-up with a record of 8-4.  The Vikings hold a slim 15-14 series advantage against the Bulldogs.

Specific home theme days and final game times for all games will be released at a later date.  For additional information about Bowie State University Athletics, contact the Office of Sports Information at (301) 860-3574 or log on to www.BSUBulldogs.com.

BSU BULLDOGS DENIED NCAA TOURNAMENT BERTH

(BOWIE, Md.)  The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament field of 64 has been released but Bowie State University will not be a part of it.  The Northern Division Champion Bulldogs suffered a tough 66-63 overtime loss to Elizabeth City State University in the CIAA Tournament semifinals and end their season at 22-6.  The final comments made by third-year head coach Darrell Brooks in the BSU locker room were, "A lot of teams across this country would love to have a 22 and 6 record and I know this hurts now, but let's keep our heads up and I love you guys."

Two teams from the CIAA will join six other Atlantic Region teams competing for the ultimate NCAA title.  Conference Champion Winston-Salem State University and CIAA Southern Division Champion Shaw University will make their second straight return trip to the regional.   The other six teams include the top seed and host West Liberty along with Charleston (W.Va.), West Virginia Wesleyan, Wheeling Jesuit, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and East Stroudsburg.

ELIZABETH CITY STATE TOPS TOP SEEDED BOWIE STATE 66-63 IN OVERTIME

(CHARLOTTE, N.C. – March 2, 2012)  Elizabeth City State took advantage of a poor shooting night at the free-throw line by Bowie State as the Vikings stunned the Northern Division top seed, 66-63 in overtime to advance to the CIAA Tournament Championship game on Friday night at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Bowie State finished the night by shooting 30 percent (8-of-27) from the foul line.  “It is tough right now to lose a hard fought game,” Bowie State head coach Darrell Brooks said. “It was like a heavyweight fight. I am proud of my basketball team and we gave our best in a losing effort. We just didn’t do a good job making free throws tonight and that was the difference in the game.”

Angelo Sharpless led the Vikings (15-13) with a double-double, 27 points and 15 rebounds. Quintin Spady and Marquie Cook had 12 and 10 points, respectively, as Elizabeth City State, which had 18 second-chance points, shot 31 percent (21-of-67) from the floor and 71 percent (17-of-24) from the free-throw line.

Bowie State, which swept the regular season contests with Elizabeth City State, fell behind, 5-0, within the first minute, but the Bulldogs used a 7-0 run, capped by Byron Westmorland 3-point to take their lead of the night at 7-5 with 16:26 remaining in the opening half.

The Vikings, who have defeated Bowie State to reach the CIAA Championship game three times, quickly responded with a 12-4 run, capped by Blake Price jumper to give Elizabeth City State a 16-11 advantage with 12:45 left.

The Bulldogs (22-6) couldn’t get much going on offense and Elizabeth City State extended the lead to 22-16 after a Price layup with 7:58 remaining.  The Vikings managed just one field goal in the final 7:58 as Bowie State climbed back into the game with a 13-2 run to close out the first half and take a 29-24 advantage into the break.

The Bulldogs extended the lead to 38-31 after a Jay Gavin 3-pointer with 16:50 remaining, but a three by Cooke kept the Vikings within striking distance by cutting the margin to 38-34 with 16:08 left.

That bucket started a 13-2 run during a six-minute stretch as Elizabeth City State roared back in front, 44-40, after a Sharpless 3-pointer with 10:01 left. The Bulldogs answered and tied the game at 44 with buckets by Najee White and Gavin, but a three by Spady quickly broke the 44-all tie with a 3-pointer to give the Vikings a 47-44 advantage with 7:46 remaining.

Spady’s 3-pointer sparked an Elizabeth City State 8-1 run, capped by Cooke jumper to give the Vikings their largest lead of the night at 52-45 with 5:06 left.

It took just two minutes for Bowie State, which used a 7-2 run, to rally from the seven-point deficit as the Bulldogs got buckets by Westmorland, Darren Clark and Travis Hyman to tie the game at 54 with 2:10 left.

Sharpless put Elizabeth City State back on top with a jumper with 1:47 left, but Clark drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key to give the Bulldogs a 57-56 advantage with 1:24 remaining.

After both teams exchanged possessions, Sharpless went to the foul line with 8.1 seconds left, making the first of two shots. Bowie State had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Westmorland’s shot was off the mark, sending the game into overtime tied at 57.

In overtime, the Vikings took a 62-60 lead after a free throw by Cook with 1:25 remaining, but Clark sank a 3-pointer from the right wing to give Bowie State a 63-62 lead with 1:09 to play. A Sharpless bucket with 47 seconds left put Elizabeth City State back on top, 64-63.

After an offensive foul by the Bulldogs with 29.1 seconds remaining, Bowie State was forced to foul.  Cooke sank both shots at the foul line with 20.2 seconds left to give Elizabeth City State a 66-63 advantage.

On the next Bulldogs possession, Julian Williams went to the free-throw line with 3.1 seconds left, but missed both shots to send Elizabeth City State into the championship game.

The Bulldogs, who entered the game 12-0 when shooting 50 percent or better, was 24-of-46 from the floor for 52 percent. Bowie State’s previous low on field goals attempted (49) was on Jan. 9 in a 70-69 loss at Winston-Salem State.

Clark led the Bulldogs with 20 points and dished out seven assists. Hyman recorded a double-double with 14 points and a season-high 17 boards.

“We set three goals at the beginning of the season,” Brooks said. “Our first goal was to win the Northern Division and we did that. Our second was to win the CIAA Tournament and we fell just short of that. Our third is to win a national title and we could still reach that goal.”

SHAW LADY BEARS ELIMINATE BOWIE STATE LADY BULLDOGS WITH 59-44 VICTORY

(CHARLOTTE, N.C. – March 2, 2012)  Bowie State had every answer for Shaw to start each half.  It was the rest of the game that was the problem.

Opening each period, Bowie State got off to a hot start to hold a lead over the Southern Division champion, only to have the Lady Bears respond with game-changing scoring runs as Shaw punched its ticket to its second straight CIAA Tournament final after a 59-44 victory over the Lady Bulldogs on Friday.

Kyria Buford, taking a cue from teammate Crystal Harris, poured in with five straight points to spark a 19-5 run that turned a slim 24-23 Bowie State edge early in the second half into a comfortable 42-29 Shaw advantage with 9:29 remaining in the game.

Shaw (22-6), the defending CIAA champion, led by as many as 15 points midway through the period, and was never threatened after that.

Buford finished with 11 points while Crystal Harris, who sparked Shaw’s big run in the first half, led all players with 17 points. Aslea Williams added 13 points.

Behind 6-foot-5 senior center Chanita Jordan, the second-seeded Lady Bulldogs (9-16) got off to a tremendous start, getting six points and three blocked shots from Jordan to spur a 12-3 run to start the game.

But Shaw responded behind the physical play off the bench by its reserve center Harris, who scored eight points in quick succession to revive the Bears, sparking an 18-6 run over the next 8 minutes to give Shaw a 21-18 lead with 1:44 to go in the period. The Bears led 23-20 at the half.

“They’re just a great team,” Bowie State first-year coach Renard Smith said of Shaw. “They’re far more experienced than we are and a lot deeper, and that showed when we experienced foul trouble.”

The Lady Bulldogs didn’t back down following the break, getting four points in a span of 25 seconds from Kim Jones to retake the lead.  But Buford hit a 3-pointer from the corner on the next trip down the floor, and then added a jumper from 18 feet to put the Bears back in front. Brittany Ransom added a 3 from the wing and after a three-point play from Harris and a pretty step-back jump shot from Brittney Spencer , Shaw was up by 13, 42-29.

“Chanita picked up her third foul, and that substitution, from about the 17-minute mark to the 12-minute mark, was the difference in the game,” Smith said. “That was the momentum swing.”

Jordan led Bowie State with 16 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots while senior Juliette Turner added nine points and nine rebounds.
